the best FDS game for a first

so i just bought a FDS!  itll be my first, and its supposed to come in about 7 days! but i dont really know which games would be good for me to get, i dont know a bit of japanese so rpgs are out, and im not looking for collectibles yet just games that are fun to play but i also dont want to get the same games that i have on my nes
so whats youre favorite FDS game or what do you think i should get as my first FDS game?
also any tips on how to tell a pirate disk from an original would be great

Most people buy the standard well known games... if you don't want games that are on NES there are some threads here:

Official disks have NINTENDO inprinted at the bottom.  And official labels.

An unofficial label is a piece of paper were someone scribbled some letters, like this.

I recommend you get the classics like Mario 2, Zelda 1 and 2, Castlevania, ect... basically games that came out on NES but are the more enhanced versions.

Also if you want to get a bunch of cheap games for about $10, you should get Famicom Grand Prix games (F-1 Race and 3D-Hot Rally), the Famicom Golf US & Japan Course games, Nazo no Murasamejo, and there's a few more I can't really think of right now.

As for FDS exclusives, you need to get Konami's Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, Ai Senshi Nicol, and a few more.

Most good games for the FDS range from $25 to $50. Prices will definitely be more expensive when the artwork and manual are included. You can get the best deals if you buy games that don't match the labels on the disk card, however I personally prefer to collect with at least the correct labels and hopefully the artwork with it.

Thank you guys this is really helpful  will be making a must get list! and hopefully if i do enough rosetta stone courses and surround myself with japanese games i can learn japanese this summer and then move onto rpg titles too  im so excited!

Learning Japanese in one summer enough to be able to play RPGs sounds very hard. I know someone very smart who learned Japanese by himself just by learning the grammar using this guide http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar, practising writing kana and kanji and then just keep reading as much Japanese texts as possible. Eventually he passed level 1 (the hardest level) of the Japanese Proficiency Test, but it still took him a few years.

Don't give up though. If you study enough you should be able to play RPGs (using dictionaries) after a year.

yeah it does seem hard so far but thanks for the link ill definitely be using that site i think the approach that it takes makes alot more sense then trying to make japanese make sense in the english perspective and i wont give up ive always wanted to visit japan so i kinda need to besides me just wanting to learn it

Those are all great games but besides a few misspellings (blame the people you took the titles from in the original threads) it looks like you have quite a few duplicates. Also you are missing the first Eggerland that's called just "Eggerland" and  Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo (spans two disks just like the prequel).

Arumana no Kiseki and Almana no Kiseki is the exact same thing, just two ways of romanizing the same title. Odissey is spelled Odyssey and Castlevania 2 is actually called Dracula II: Noroi no Fuuin. Tantei Kurabu's full title is Famicom Tantei Club: Kieta Koukeisha. It's correct that Eggerland Departure to Creation is a translation of Eggerland Souzou he no Tabidachi, and the only Excitebike title on FDS is called VS Excitebike. Hikari Shinwa: Paluthena no Kagami is what was released to NES as Kid Icarus, and Mysterious Castle Murasame is the same as Nazo no Murasame-jou, so that's two more duplicates in your list.

Edit: I see one more. Akumajou there's no such game AFAIK. Akumajou Dracula is of course Castlevania.
