Hello, I recently bought a Super Famicom (hasn't arrived yet) & wanted to ask how I can go about playing U.S. games in it? I know with the SNES you just remove the tabs inside the cartridge slot so with the Super Famicom is it similar?  :-[

Use an import adapter e.g. Honey Bee, AD29 or Fire Adapter to extend the cartridge slot. No need to modify the SNES at all.
Just plug in the game in the front slot of the adapter and leave the back slot empty.

The US carts are not thicker at all but wider than regular SNES carts.

micro on a German forum has build an adaptor for this: https://circuit-board.de/forum/index.php/Thread/14477-Cartridge-Slot-Verl%C3%A4ngerung-f%C3%BCr-SNES-Super-Famicom-basteln/

Files for PCB manufacturing are attached in that topic. Hope that helps!

Here's the adapter I use to play SNES games on my Super Famicom:

Dude awesome I didn't know there was something like this! I wanted a Super Famicom, but held off because I needed something like this.

Yeah this is the way to go, a region adapter that doesn't require the back slot to have a cart inserted so the original CIC chip can still be used. I currently don't have any US carts so I don't have this problem, but if I had, I would definitely use an adapter. Modding a Super Famicom cart slot to fit the squarish US carts would just ruin the aesthetics, and removing the protective shell isn't a very attractive solution either.

I have a contact who had a bunch of these made in China.

Hope to be able to have some more in 1-2 weeks:

I also do a bunch of cutting up the slot... I think I've gotten better at it:

Thank you for your responses everyone, I went the cheap way & cut the cartridge slot  :-[ but I want to keep this page active/open because I'm sure I'll get another Super Famicom to keep untouched & it may help others as well :)

For my favourite games, I've bought the SFC and US SNES versions and swapped the US PCB in to the SFC cart case :)
