Soo... second post, and doing some searching found slightly similar threads, however not many people had sports game recommendations. I love playing 8-bit style sports games, but I'm unsure what fami-only sports games would be good. Especially on baseball, since there's 90857689374589723 different baseball titles for it, heh.

What would one recommend for the following sports? (Fami versions of NES games good too)

Baseball
Football (US)
Hockey
Golf
Basketball
Tennis
Soccer/Futbol/Football

Alternately, if someone knows a great sports game that doesn't fit the description, please let me know. I saw a reccomendation by someone for Captain Tsubasa 2 which is a sports/rpg hybrid apparently - right up my alley! I just got my official Famicom shipped in from Japan, so I have very little - and nothing on the sports side. Thanks in advance for the advice!

Just started the fami collection... want to finish a pulse line collection to start. :)

I have a  game of Ice Hockey made by the company "Technos". I can't make out the real title of it though, but its a fun game as Hockey games go...

apparently it's "Ike Ike! Nekketsu"... something hockey. Nekketsu and hockey, eh? I will HAVE to try that, thank you :D

The Kunios seem to be among the best of the sport games. There's one that has up to four players where you run a course and beat up your opponents. Don't know if that counts as a sport, but running, kicking and hitting is involved. Otherwise, I pretty much hate sports games.

The Kunio games are a lot of fun, especially when you play against friends.

The two Dodge Danpei games are cool Dodgeball/RPG hybrid games.  They play more like card games than sports games, though.

Translation patches exist for both of them:

While not what I'd technically call a sports game, I'm a huge CardFighters Clash fan, so these games will most likely kill me. :D

So far I see "Kunio/Nekketsu" sports titles and this, along with Captain Tsubasa which apparently is more similar to the quoted game than an actuall soccer game, but still works.

Thank you so much for the info - now to the hunt!

I'm a big fan of U.S. Championship V'Ball.  The Hyper Sports/Olympics are fun too, especially with the custom controllers.

I own the Kunio soccer, basketball, and track game...  and I can't figure them out, so not too much fun for me.

JunjiHiroma

There's kunio no soccer league.that game is impossible to find.

Here's a thought - with the depth of baseball games out for the system - was Baseball Stars ever put out in famicom form? Either I'm dumb, it's rare, or I just don't know what I'm looking for. :/

I'm impartial to Double Dribble, since it was the first sports game I ever played (on the NES, though). I have a pirate disk and cart for famicom; the cart being the US version and the disk the Japanese version. I haven't seen any of the special 'dunk' screens on the disk, though, but really haven't played it that much. Anyone know if the dunk screens are included in the Famicom version? Maybe my pirate just doesn't have them, I dunno  ???

thegreatgonzo

Double Dribble! It didn't take long for all my friends to not want to play me ever again after I put that in the NES. That and Ice Hockey (NES). Should my players be big, medium, or skinny? Such power should have never be given to a maniac like me! 8)
Ok, wrong thread I know....

Personally i very much like the Captain Tsubasa games but it could be hard for somebody who does not understand japanese since its more like you writed like a RPG based game but if you learn which combination does what it is not very complicated.

Also you should look for the Nekketsu sport games especially the dodgeball who is one personal favourite from that series...
