What the title says...

What are some good Japanese Famicom-exclusive games? I'm used to most of the games in the NES library and I would like to try something new.
I've played a few Famicom titles before like; "Valis" and "Heisei Tansai Bakabon". Those games were pretty fun but I'm looking for other good games, preferably cheaper ones.

I also prefer platformers, puzzle games, or Shoot-Em-Ups. Or pretty much anything that's playable without too much Japanese due to me not understanding it.

Nightstar699

From my experience very few good action games come cheap for Famicom. The early releases are generally the cheaper games for the console, as well as sports and Dragon Quest games. That being said, here are my favorite Famicom-exclusives.

Armadillo
Kaiketsu Yancha Maru 2: Karakuri Land
Choujin Sentai Jetman
Don Doko Don 2
Mitsume Ga Tooru
Kyatto Tenden Teyandee
Pizza Pop
Kero Kero Keroppi 2
Kaiketsu Yancha Maru 3
Daiku No Gen San 2
Time Zone
Akumajo Special: Boku Dracula Kun
Joy Mech Fight

All of the above are platformers, with the exception of Joy Mech Fight which is a fighting game. Keep in mind there are many great Famicom games which were released on NES, but are cheaper on the Famicom. Some of these include Gun Nac, Dragon Fighter, and Wanpaku Kokkun No Gourmet World.
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

My man, I think I might be able to help you out as your interests seem to be close to mine. I'll skip the puzzle games, since I think I've already answered a thread from you about those recently. Anything with a "$" next to it is one that you can have a reasonable chance of getting for $10 or less.

Wow you have some great lists here. I don't have much to add but if disk system is ok I would recommend Ai Senshi Nicol besides the more famous titles (SMB2j etc).

If you want to try some other genres while skipping RPGs and Adventures (too much Japanese), I can recommend digital board games. My favo is Itadaki Street which is a monopoly-like game but with more advanced rules. Besides menus and the rules explanation the only Japanese in the game are when the computer players are talking (just to add personality to them) which isn't necessary to understand to enjoy the game. You can learn the rules on GameFAQ, they are not hard at all to learn.

I had a friend ask me to find a copy of Crisis Force.  Took some doing, but I finally found one.  Before I shipped it off, I gave it a spin myself.

It is *amazing*.  It's the Star Force gameplay taken to the absolute limit of the Famicom hardware.  It is everything a video game can and *should* be.  It's not a cheap cart, but it's well worth the 4,000-ish yen it usually commands.
