Happy Holidays to all!

Yes, things have been slow, but we’re all so busy and lazy this time of year. So, everybody better damn enjoy their holidays. We’ll be back in the swing of things soon.

The damn thing’s been recovered!

Most of you probably don’t care one lick, but just weeks before Christmas, JC’s laptop died. It had worked well for over three years, which seems to be the life span for these cheap ass things. When it died, it took everything with it. Well, for a few moments yesterday, it was working — a momentary technological miracle, perhaps. And while it was working, JC recovered his article about the pin converters that can be found inside some NES cartridges.

So, maybe this doesn’t count as an update.

The state of the Forum is strong.

New pirate carts and updated games lists!

Just a quick note: updated the Pirated page with a bunch of new entries as well as some new images in older entries!

Added a second repair log for the Sharp Twin Famicom, thanks to Chimy. Also, the games lists have been edited and updated (again). Vealchop has bestowed on us the honor of another wonderful animation, this time for Nintendo City (see top right of this page). There may be other things we updated. We always forget what we change and add. Geez.

An awesome review of Castlevania III!

Juggalo’s done another review. This time it’s Akumajou Densetsu. Need we say more! Plus, we’ve got updates to the carts list and the Holy Grails shrine. And let’s not forget the awesome new animation from vealchop (to the right, people). Rumor has it he’ll have another neat one for us very soon!

The forum is doing awesome, with over 70 members. Welcome to all the recent members! If you’re not yet registered, maybe now’s the time!

An awesome review of Contra!

We’ve put up what’s a really awesome review of Contra, with all sorts of interesting details about the game, including some about how the Famicom version differs from NES versions. In addition, the games lists now have a new feature. Before each game listing is a green or red button. Click a green one and you’ll get more information about the game, usually a review.

Other little changes have been made throughout, including an updated Disk System errors list, a table of contents added to the Holy Grails shrine and a piece about the FamicomBox.

Lucky Cha-Cha-Cha Wow!

The Oddities page has been updated with two new entries. The first is a really cool insert from Bubble Bobble for the FDS with a rather peculiar but fun phrase. The other is a short piece about Mario and Luigi’s FDS battle. Check ’em out.

Also, we’ve got a new page for Recommended Sellers, to help those of you looking for Famicom stuff but not knowing where to go for it. Thanks to forum member vealchop for creating the awesome animated link! Also keep an eye out for changes to the Holy Grails Shrine. Yep, we’re the first gaming site to have screenshots from the Famicom gold disks.

Doki! Doki! Panic Review!

Doki! Doki! Panic has been reviewed! Some gamers argue that Nintendo did nothing but steal what was a quality game, hack it and then rename it Super Mario Bros. 2 for the NES. If you believe that, JL has some harsh words for you. Check out the review.

Welcome to our new Brazilian friends from the Invisible Famicom Church. We’ve linked to their websites on the Links page. Thanks in part to them, the forum now has over 60 members!

Three new pirated carts on the Pirated page!

Sonic the Hedgehog (AKA Super 8 in 1), Teletubbies (AKA Super Game), and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers III have been added to the Pirated page. You may remember a while back that we put up some information about Mighty Morphin Power Rangers IV. Well, this new Power Rangers game is completely different! Check out all the new pirates!

We’ve also changed the Errors page to the Oddities page and added some things there, including an interesting image from Adventure Island, thanks to staff member Juggalo. Plus, there have been updates to both Famicom games lists.

Visit the forum…we’re about to hit 60 members!

Finally something’s on the Merchandise page!

We’ve added two items to the merchandise page. You may recognize both of them as recent eBay auctions. They are…kind of. Featherpluckinfilms has been kind enough to send us some images of the cool things he’s finding in Japan!

Again we’ve made little changes to the site — adding images here and there and editing text to make it more accurate. I think there’s also a new pirate cart up.

10.15.06

Unlicensed, originals, ports and hacks!

The Famicom games list has been updated again. We’ve added a bunch of unlicensed games, like the Sachens, thanks to an exhaustive list by forum member jbholio! We’ve also added some unique pirated games to the list…and not just any old pirate, but the unique ones, either extensive hacks or ports from other systems.

Also, a bunch of little changes have been made to the site. You might have to look hard to notice them, but trust me, they were necessary.
