u think someone is gonna give it to you for free?
no i was wondering where i could download it but that sounds like a god awful thing to do.
I could sell you a copy if you want.
The rom for the FDS version of SMB is really hard to find. Good luck, if you can even find it.
roms are dumb anyway its better to play it on the real hardware. pc isnt the same thing

Agreed, but if it's situations where the game is ridiculously expensive (and in some cases, even not expensive), there's no better alternative.
I have almost every ROM of every NES and Famicom game made. I keep them on my PSP. I own about 60 Famicom games so far and am searching for more all the time. For most of the games I own I had never heard of, and I use my emulator to test the games out. If they are good enough, I'll buy them. I like to play things with the real Famicom controller whenever possible. if there was a way to mod a Famicom Controller to the PSP.....well then maybe I'd do that! lol
why I hate roms:
because I can just buy the real thing and have something more valuable
because it is stealing
because i like the real deal
because I am a collector
because I have 380 dollars to spend on random neo geo carts.
what do you do for a living dude?

Dude, it's not like you can just go on any street corner and buy a Recca cart.
Quotebecause it is stealing
How is it stealing when the games are NES/Famicom games which Nintendo can't even make a profit on anymore?
Quotebecause i like the real deal
So do we all. But there are situations where the games we want to play aren't available on eBay. When was the last time you saw a copy of Puyo Puyo, Navy Blue, or Donald Land on eBay?
Quotebecause I am a collector
And so are we.
okay i guess that means nobody has it.
what do i do for a living ? well im 17 so i guess not much. iv been looking for a job but its kinda hard in such a small town. i use roms for an alternative

Seriously, I agree with kite200 on most of these things, but I think snowbored just wants to play the game & doesn't seriously want to own it.
Let me guess, is it about the Minus World? I know someone has it, because we had a link to a bunch of FDS roms & I was able to play it. Sorry, I didn't keep it, though.
Ok, im 14, I have no job, and i still can afford this shit. also jl, this thread isnt really about recca, so that isnt really valid, smb is a 20 dollar game at best, so its pretty cheap. nintendo is still turning a profit on nes games thru wii. and i saw a copy of puyo puyo on ebay 2 months ago
okay. i assure you man. i would be buying more games if i had money. i dont really like roms too but that is whats avaliable so i take advantage of that.
and yes its because of minus world. i wanted to fool around with it in a different version.

Do you pay the for the groceries, electric, water, telephone bills?
Quotealso jl, this thread isnt really about recca, so that isnt really valid,
What's your point? I was arguing against your point, so how is it not valid?
Quotesmb is a 20 dollar game at best, so its pretty cheap.
Maybe cheap by your standards...but that's pretty expensive for me.
Quotenintendo is still turning a profit on nes games thru wii.
Dude, that's REALLY streching it...It's not like the FDS version of Super Mario Bros., a Week of Garfield, Rock Board, or Dirty Pair: Project Eden are coming to the Wii anytime soon.
Quoteand i saw a copy of puyo puyo on ebay 2 months ago
ONE copy. TWO months ago. Before that, how often did you find it?
I rest my case.
It's not valid because you are talking about a 400 dollar game. That maybe you can dl a rom for, but 20 dollar smb is a joke compared to 400 bucks

So? Both are expensive to me...
Some people aren't wealthy man, you're lucky. We have bills to pay, which mysteriously rise every year... :(

Yeah, why can't my salary do that?
Maybe it has something to do with not holding a job for a little bit more than a year... :-\

Be a teacher like me. You get more cash the longer you stay, so the money is good when you're like 50, though. :-\
yeah. looks like money grows on trees for kite or something. only if it was like that for the rest of us. should i just give up ?

I THINK there's a ROM out there, but it's very hard to find. One day you'll find it. :)
haha alright. sounds good. ill run into it one of these days.

In the meanwhile, why not stick around on the forums anyway? :)

I think that's a hint, dude. So when are you going to post it? How long are you going to hold out? :P
what ? you lost me there. im retarded.
I'm talking to JL. I think he has it. :-\
oh got it. haha. wow im sorry.
oh wait what ? send me it then!
I found the rom once but I forgot where it was
im sure
I didn't mean you snowbored...I meant kite. How is a 380 dollar game peanuts to you man? You're 14? Seriously?
yeah i wanna know that too.
Yeah im 14! Well it wasnt exactaly peanuts, I made by grandpa pay for it, but its in the mail now. I make most of my money selling things on ebay so thats how I can buy lots of stuff, like archaic video games. I've made about 700 dollars aside from my grandpa's money in the past 2 months or so, too bad kris is not in Japan now or I coulda bought a boatload! hahaha. You guys should check your closets or garage, im sure there is something you don't want anymore that you can sell on ebay and make money off of.
Oh. I'd have to work my ass off for weeks to be able to afford that. Mind you I have a mortgage, bills, food, car, gas that all takes priority over gaming. Maybe your family has a lot of money I dunno. But when you get older you might find it a lot harder to drop that kind of loot for a single game.
As for an SMB disc, that game pops up every once in a while on ebay cheap, you might have to settle for an incomplete version however, or a version that was rewritten with a disk writer, which I would find cooler to own anyway.
alright. thanks man. this kid is obivously loaded or something.
>.> I'm not loaded I'm just not lazy. I work hard selling things on ebay to make money to buy things. My family isn't loaded, I'm buying the stuff myself.
I thought you just said you made your grandfather buy you that 380 dollar game?
yeah, he bought that, but I buy everything else. all of my collection i bought with my own money, including stuff worth more than metal slug 5
Quote from: kite200 on June 18, 2007, 12:39:19 pm

I'm sorry, but you have to be lying. There's no way you have that much stuff in your home, worth that much money.
um, you shoulda seen my closet, im not lying
i saw donald land on ebay once, but the price was a little too high for me.
You had a bunch of game stuff you sold?
I sold a bunch of random things, it didnt matter what it was, i cant recall the most bizzare thing I sold, basically instead of having a garage sale I pawn it on ebay, it really works, you guys should clean your closet

I'm still calling balderdash. I'm sorry, but there's no way you have that much stuff in your closet AT ALL.
why would I bother to lie to you, i dont gain anything from that, its true, I did, and i sold it, and now i have money, its really simple
I didn't reallize I got so many responses..Well I don't think I could get it now..All the Mario ROM's are protacted by the ESA now
the Famicom Disk System version of SMB1 isn't anything special. My favorite version is a pirate of it i have that places the floor blocks of SMB2J instead of the defult ones for absoultuely no reason.
You'll have to get someone to dump it for you.

I have that version too! And don't forget the clouds have also been replaced with the clouds from SMB2J.
I think he wants to explore the minus world of the FDS version, waaay better than the cart version :P. I know where you can find it, but I'm not sure if you can talk about ROM sites here.

Take it to PMs...safer that way. JL's a stickler about that; me not so much.
Thanks!
