Hey guys,

I've got some Famicom stuff I'm eventually wanting to sell, but I'd like to know roughly what fair market value is for it. I figured you guys would know better than anyone. I'm not 100% sure I'm going to part with it yet, but if I do, I just don't want to get too ripped off :)

All of the items are complete/new, and I purchased them a long time ago and really don't recall what I paid for them.

Don't know about the others. I haven't been paying attention to the prices lately, but these are what I think those'd go for. I hope you get a second or third opinion.

What's the going rate on a CIB A Week Of Garfield?   ...and does anyone happen to have one for sale/trade? I'm have difficulties locating one odviously. :P

What about the Rockman games?

There's been a cart-only lot on eBay for $75 for a while. It's not selling. I don't think people would be willing to pay more than $60 for a lot like that. As for CIB, that's a different story. There are a few hardcore Mega Man collectors around who might pay about $15-20 per CIB Rock Man. I wouldn't recommend listing anything until September, as eBay is really slow because summer's ending and school's starting.

I'm asking this here so I don't make another thread which I think it's unnecessary but I want to know how much are worth the Famicom cart bubble bobble and the pirated bubble bobble. Thanks

Bubble Bobble for Famicom is a disk. There was no cart. There was a cart for Bubble Bobble 2, however. So, the pirate ain't worth much. I've seen it go for $10 on a lucky day for a seller. I'd be willing to pay $25 if it's the disk version on cart. :)

what is the difference of the disk version if it's on cart?

Other than the technical internal changes required for it to be ported to cart, nothing is different from the disk version. I don't think the sprites were ever hacked.

How much does a loose Game Boy Advance cost ?

I have seen it for 20+ but there may be cases where it's lower than 20 well it's ebay anyways....

Gamestop sells the original GBAs used for $29.99.  They usually overprice, but that's a good ceiling price.  The SP is $59.99, which seems very high to me.

SP is wayyyyyy overpriced on gamestop. If you live near any flea markets you can get GBAs for 5 bucks that's how I got mine.....

Too much for II CIB is $20. Too much for III CIB is about $60. I've paid less attention to the price of II (hate that one) than the price of III.

For EMS shipping from Japan to the USA... is $21 for 10 Famicom carts too much? Do they weigh that much, or is it reasonable?

Maybe I'm not up with prices here, but I could swear I've seen II for much cheaper than $80...I use YHJ, however, not eBay.

And shipping from Japan is killer. I just bought two lots of 300+ games and the pricing for shipping was around $70-80, I think, for those...and that's Surface. EMS at $21 isn't bad, but then 10 games isn't that heavy. Someone here's got to have shipped a lot of that size. I usually only bulk ship Surface because it's cheaper, so it's hard for me to say for sure what you should be paying.

Do you want it for the cart or the game itself? Because Dream Mary is easy to replicate, just flip the mirroring into a normal SMB cart, and there's your Dream Mary.

You can find this most everywhere...it's pretty common. It goes by a bunch of names and is usually on multicarts. Be patient and you'll get it for a few bucks.

That's the thing. I can most likely get it for like $5, which is even less in CAD. :) I'd say it was worth it, but I just wanted to know if it was a POS and not worth that much.

It's fun for about an hour and then you realize the real thing is much better.

I have a few copies of the original though. I think I'm just gunna bid the minimum, and if I win it, great. If not, then meh.

Good plan...I try to be an advocate for people paying the right prices because I see a lot of people overbidding on stuff they could get for cheap if they were patient. This is especially true of Mario hacks because most of them are common.

$21 for 10 Famicom carts sounds about right.  If they're boxed then it's a really good price.  The minimum for any box going to the US is $15 for EMS, so you're paying $6 over the minimum.  Think of it that way.

Do you guys know what a new FamiCopy is worth?  It's the red unit that has a phone character as the mascot.

I think yes. I don't recall seeing it often. There are a few like that. They had limited release, maybe even just through Disk Writers...but you could request the official disk label and foldout manual through the mail. I can't say for sure if this is true of DK.

What is the average price for a complete copy? There are currently a few on ebay but they are loose disk only,  for around $16.00.

Im sorry to say but Donkey Kong for FDS was only avaliable on the Diskwriters so a complete copy would be hard to find. You might find a disk with stickers and a foldout manual but thats the closes you get to a complete copy.

I just bought a new Famicom Disk System from Ebay for $121 + $44 shipping. It includes the disk drive body, RAM adapter, RF extension cord, instruction manual, plenty of inserts and posters (one of them for Kid Icarus!), and an extra belt (new) for loading. Everything is in new condition and mint. Is this a good deal?

they are literally the same hardware. Its like asking if the Gameboy Advance SP works better then the standard or Micro or Gameboy Player. They are all the same.

That's not really an accurate comparison, as the GB Micro will not play GBC or GB games.

that's only because the mirco doesnt have the Z-80 processor of the original Gameboy due to its size. The Z-80 was present only for older games. The GBA hardware is entirely independant of it.

Not much, I'd think. I've never heard of it being sought after or being worth much. I'd not pay more than a few bucks for it.

Sometimes I see it go for about $35 shipped. There are two versions of it though. Different games on each, so it would depend I guess. Isn't there a thread for prices already though?

I bought my Super Mario Family for $10. I found it hidden in an auction for a pirate console. I told the dude to keep the crappy console and just sell me the game. He did. And mine came boxed. :)

a good deal for a few reasons

1. It is the most well known brand of converter
2. It comes with a free pirate (everyone loves free pirates)
3. It's dirt cheap.

And the auction got booted.

I hope you remember the seller's user ID. I always keep the user ID when it's a pirate because they get removed and then you can contact the seller afterward to buy it.

There isn't much of a difference when it comes to "original" pirates and "repro" pirates...

Well, you can get kart fighter and boogerman on as a repro for $30 or under, but super mario world would have to be majorly hacked to work on normal mapper so you're not going to see repros anytime soon if ever.

I always get in trouble because I tell people essentially what I think things are worth, regardless of their going rate. Nonetheless, I'd put Mother CIB at $45; Hitler cart-only at $30; SMB CIB at $17; and Just Breed CIB at $14.

I am looking into purchasing a CIB copy of "Hitler no Fukkatsu Top Secret".  Is $120 an average price?

I haven't paid attention to the price of that game much lately. I'd think you could find it for under $90 and closer to $75, but then, I'm thinking YHJ prices, not eBay prices.

Last 2 Hitler No Fukkatsu Top Secret CIB's that I saw on Y!J were $90 and $150 respectively.

The $90 one had a bit of wear and the $150 one was pretty much brand new looking.

My fav online shop has it for 7300Yen CIB. They don't list the condition, though.

I'll give these a try, but I only really know the prices of games I'm interested in (I don't buy CIB, ever).

Rockman CIB = $18
Rockman 2 CIB = $16
Kid Icarus CIB = $30
Legend of Zelda CIB = $20
SMB2j CIB = $15
Kid Dracula CIB = $23

I'd recommend searching these on YHJ and seeing which auctions are selling and which aren't. That'll give you a good idea of pricing. That's how I determine prices of stuff I want to buy.

Rockman CIB for $18?  I checked YHJ and saw nothing below $75 for a CIB.

Also, is there a difference in pricing for CIB and Brand NEW FDS games?

I've never heard anywhere of Rockman being rare. I wouldn't trust one auction's price; some of those YHJ prices are outrageous, as is the case with eBay sometimes. And I don't think I could be that far off...I'll keep my eye out for more.

Granted this can be true, but the cart only's I saw were ~$40.  Heck all 6 carts together were going for $100-$125.  The bulk of that being Rockman 1 and 2.

All six carts aren't worth that price. They rarely sell on eBay for over $70 combined, which is just over $10 per cart. I can't imagine Rockman cart-only goes for $40. This I know for sure. CIB, I'm not so sure.

EDIT: Just wanted to say for certain, after poking around YHJ for a while, that all six cart-only sell for less than $50 in Japan -- no where near the $100-$125 mentioned. I've only come across one Rockman CIB auction, and it wasn't selling, so I can't say for sure.

I think it can be had for a bit cheaper, too. The online shops I know won't ship internationally, but I could try to find stuff for you if you still want it in about a month from now.

Found this famicom multicart on Ebay.  It's the 76 in 1 which from what I hear actually has 76 original games on it with no repeats, but I may be wrong.  It comes with a 60-72 pin converter that says "T89" on it and I beleive there is an article on this site. 

Just want to know if it's worth $30 and if you know what games are on it that would be helpful.

PLEASE I think this is reasonable and I want to buy it before it's gone but I need your opion.

P.S. This would be my first Multicart so anyone thinking of buying it please don't I only have 4 famicom games!

I don't pay more than $15 for multicarts. The shipping is pretty high, too. I think I've actually got that multicart. If it's the same one, it's a pretty good one.

I wouldn't pay more than $5 to $10 for a converter, depending on quality and condition.

Well If there truly are over 70 games on that multi cart, then you should buy it. It's worth $30 to me. :P

I've read multiple places that the 76 in 1 is highly popular in japan because of the reason that it doesn't contain any repeats.  There is even  a games list on the back of the cart as seen on the auction page.

I'll probably purchase it tonight but if anyone has any objections post them now.  I'll be back here beofre I buy it and if no one says anything I'm buying it.

I've finally managed to find a CiB Super Contra... Now, I don't know if this is a 'known' rare game or what but I've had a hell of a time finding a boxed one and I've only seen unboxed ones two or three times this year. The seller wants somewhere in the region of $75-80 for it (the price is in Euros, the seller is French). I think you'll agree that's a lot for a Famicom game, although it's about what I paid for my boxed Contra. Is this much over the 'market' value or not?

It's kinda rare on eBay, but more common on YHJ. I'd say the going rate for it CIB is around $30. I haven't seen a CIB on eBay in a long time, but I can't imagine it selling for over $30 CIB -- unless new or mint -- on YHJ.

What is the value of Guevera for Famicom?

There's one on eBay, I'm watching it, and I don't want to overpay.

I think it's a pirate. It looks pretty authentic, but the other cart that seller has listed is a pirate. The pirate is worth nothing. The real thing, cart-only, is pricey...I'd guess $20, give or take a few dollars. Awesome game...

It looks just like the other one that is for sale, but the other one is a lot more expensive.

In Japan anywhere between 10 and 25$.

I've been watching that for a long time. It's sells loose for between 1400Y to 1700Y, almost every time.

How much does this game CIB usually go for? Is it rare? I want to buy one, but not sure how much i should pay for one.

In Japanese online shops, expect to pay between 45 and 65$ CIB.

How much does All Night Nippon SMB typically go for? Toysonlinehk has some for sale on ebay--they are disk-only--one for $50 BIN and multiple copies (19) for sale at $50 or Make Offer.

Most Twin Famicoms on YHJ now are between 5000 and 7500 Yen.

Do the prices in stores vary from YHJ much? I know a guy who's going to Japan soon and he said he could pick up some stuff for me.

This can't be generalized I fear.

There are stores cheaper than your average YHJ auction and then there are more expensive stores.
You mostly have to be lucky, too, to get the really good deals on yahoo.

Just give your friend a list and let him see what he can get is what I would advise.

The first game?  Over $100 usually.  I saw it a while back at a gameshop for 8000yen.  The FDS version s really the way to go on that one.  You can pick up a disk system and the game for less than that cart.

Yep it's about Ronnie James Dio, one of the greatest singers in all of heavy metal. I've actually been looking for this game for a long time, being a Famicom fan and a Metalhead, this game is perfectly suited for me.

At least I have never seen it in stores and my usual online shops.

It's not rare but it can be hard to find. I haven't paid much attention to it, but I'd think you could find it for $15 or less loose. It seems to be just under the Hitler no Fukkatsu/Moon Crystal/Guevara tier, which run about $18-28 each.

I paid $25 for my loose copy.  I never see the game on eBay, so I decided to do the buy it now because the seller was US so shipping was cheap.

The Lion King might be the Dragon version, which I haven't been able to track down. It's hard to tell from that screen alone. Looks like the Golden Axe is the very basic hack, not the original. Can't quite figure out which MK that is. I defintely would have picked up Palbunjin just because I have no clue what it is: original or hack. You should get it for me or put me in contact to get it. Depends on the asking price, I guess, and whether it's an original or hack -- but sometimes you don't know that until you have it in your hands.

I never won a cib off yahoo japan and I was bidding 8000 or 9000 yen when I was trying to get one. I don't remember what they ended up going for.

CIB Gimmick in nice condition is over a $100 game.

I think toysonlinehk one for $80 was the right price since his was just in ok condition, but I think I saw ones in about that condition go for more on yahoo japan.

Now you can find a loose gimmick for $30-$40 from japan if you're lucky. When the loose ones are sold on ebay for $100, that's a rip off! Especially when they're in crappy condition...

Depends on the included games.
Rare games, unusual hacks and pirate originals drive up the price.
Carts with 999999999999999999999999999999+ in 1 games with only 6 different ones and carts filled with common as dirt games are pretty worthless.

I sell glob-top multicarts for $10 and PROM multicarts for $15, regardless of the games on them, unles, like 133MHz said, you've got hacks or unlicensed originals on them (your carts appear to have run-of-the-mill games). Most other single game pirates are few bucks at best, unless lucky. The HoneyBee adaptor is is great. There are gray ones and gold ones. The gold ones are considered better because they're gold, but I don't think there's any difference in quality. A generic converter can sell for $10, but a HoneyBee can (not alway, but can) sell for up to $25.

I don't have a gray HoneyBee, so I might be interested in buying it.

i'm selling it all as a lot preferably cuz i dont use them myself (PAL collector)

$50 is OK for an asking price. Famicom lots don't usually sell very high. I think you can expect around $40 -- all hinged on interest in the HoneyBee.

It will be coming from Japan.  The only detail I received on the game was it was the game that came with it originally. He had just to me its the original family trainer game. When I get it I'll be able to see which one out of ten I got.

I've seen them sell for around $30-50 CIB, depending on condition. Don't know what shipping would cost, but $50-70 sounds like a lot, unless perhaps it's EMS and then it could get expensive. An FDS I bought shipped EMS for $80 one time -- which I'll never do again. I think Athletic World was the only game released with it (also sold separately).

EMS shipping is expensive! heh. I used to buy a lot of shit from japan and had it shipped by them. It got here super fast though! Anyways, cool find dude! Be sure and post some pics when it arrives!  :)

Hmm, one problem with that one, the seller says that all the cards work, but only the SFII doesn't. I don't know what the problem can be, he just told me that the tried to play it, but there is no bootscreen coming up. Is it possible to repair it?

There could be several issues, some easy, some technologically complex. I often have trouble getting pirates to work because the pins on the board don't line up properly with some consoles' connector -- Famicom, Twin or Famiclones. That may be the problem, which sometimes requires you to remove the board from the cart to place it properly in the Famicom -- I actually think that's the most common issue. Then, there's that "static event" 133MHz has mentioned, which pretty much knocks out the game, and then sometimes it's repairable damage to the board, like a bad connection from pins to chips, or whatever.

I want to find a cheap copy of MOTHER that comes with both box and instructions for cheap, but the one I've seen on eBay go for 50 or so bucks, which is actually kind of expensive for me. I saw a copy for only 19.99 on eBay, so I'm curious. With box and manual, how cheap could I find a copy?

I think if you found one complete in japan for $20, the condition wouldn't be all that great. I think 40-50 wouldn't be a horrible price to pay for a good complete copy.

A long, long time ago, I remember a copy featherpluck sold @ $35ish. I almost bought it, but then remembered that I don't collect CIB.

Prices for *complete* Mother have gone up in the last years. Complete copies will run you between 30 and 60$, depending on the condition.
Cart only is quite cheap.

My friend is interested in selling his CIB and mint Asian version NES with a couple CIB games.
The games are Super Mario Bros, and two Hi Q Spica games.  One is a multicart, the other is some sort of Disney game.   I can find very little information on the system and games, what would a fair price be for them?

Hard to say, since I don't know much about it. I'd think it could get close to $100, maybe more as a package. I see CIB Asian systems listed for $80 quite often, but I don't know if they sell. Better place to find out is NintendoAGE.

NES 2, 101 Toploader has suffered badly because of clone systems; like 2005 it was worth 125$ - 175$ then like 2006 and on it quickly dropped in value to its now worth of $50 - 80.

Dude Top loaders are easy to come but I know where more than 5 are for under $60. I paid $100 shipped with one controller and 14 loose NES games but some great one's like Dragon Warrior, SMB3, MT Punch Out and more. I absolutely hate RFU signals and it is what has kept me from rebuying a NES, well that and the fact I will not buy a toaster again. So I saw this and drooled and snatched it up asap. I just wish a RGB mod was easier to preform as it is my only console that isn't able to output RGB display's but it is till bounds above RFU any day of the week. So it seems as if I didn't over pay that much, he was asking $175 plus shipping but offered him $100 shipped and he scooped it up. :)

Yes and they come with blinking light most of the time to ;) I don't want the hassle and have always wanted a Top loader as the reason I sold mine was blinking lights. And yes they can be repaired but who wants to do that?

They arent easy to come by, I have seen 2 in person during my lifetime.
The other one I saw was in a gaming store but it wasnt for sale they only had it to demonstrate how much better the toploader was then the toaster.

None of my friends had even seen one until I showed them mine; so if you have a store with 5 of them I want to see that store.

I could buy them at 60$ bring them back here and sell them for 85$ or more to people.

The only real cart is Spartan X.  That 4 Nichi Mahjong is definitely a pirate.  The real cart is green, not blue.

I'd lowball it at $40 and not pay more than $60.

I offered 65 US $ including shipping but he didn't accept saying someone else is ready to pay MUCH more than that...

I'd put the value at about $75. I've gotten those disks from JP for about a $1 each. And you can get Twins from JP for about $30. But, of course, these are already exported, so they'll cost more.

Gosh, varies in price a lot from what I see. I'd say it could fall anywhere between $40 and $80.

I got my CIB Family Basic for about $35 from Japan. The V3 would probably cost you more, though.

Keep in mind though, a CIB weighs about 5-6lbs.  That cost roughly $50 or so to ship.

It maybe a pirate, alot of pirate companies are really good at reproducing cases and decals. I am doubting its legitimacy.

I've never seen the Irem casing duplicated by piraters. I think it's legit, maybe an early release or a mistake. I've never seen one on YHJ, though. That is, if it's rare...if it's not rare, then I've probably not paid any attention to it on YHJ.

Very hard to find. Funny thing is they sell for only a few bucks in China. By the time they make it to eBay or forums, the price is in the hundreds. I think someone was asking $700 for the FFVII CIB. It's hard to put a value on them. It depends on the level of sanity of the buyer.

It depends where in China that is.
I could be wrong, but I think chances of finding stuff are higher in bigger cities. Shanghai, Beijing or the likes.

I guess that the PAL version is actually more rare. The game was only released in scandanavia there, and at the moment there is one cartrdige only at 50€ at some Finnish auctions but it ends in 4 days.
There is also one with box and manual (not in a very good shape) for 750$ on ebay but this one is just insane...

I am in posession of an old Nintendo NES cartridge that has 110 games on it. On the back it lists the games from 1-110 in English and on the bottom is has some Chinese or Japanese writing with a PacMan symbol. It also has 4 pictures of different games right on the pacman symbol. It is a light grey cartridge without a label on the front. I want to knowif anyone every saw this cartridge before and or if anyone know what it's worth? I saw on one site one of the games listed on my cartridge as # 80 (Clu Clu Land) which ispriced at $1000-$3000 - I wanted to get an idea what my cartridge is worth.

If this Famicom?  Anyone know anything?

Is it a Famicom cart or a NES cart?  NES carts are big and have 72 pins, and Famicom carts are small and have 60 pins.

Most multis aren't worth much unless the cart itself is rare.  It doesn't matter if it has a rare game on it.

Do you have a picture?

Clu Clu land isn't worth that much anyway. I have the Famicom cart, it cost me $2.

You could try ebay, but multicarts are usually taken straight off ebay by the people monitoring the auctions, technically they're not legal.

CIB stack is never worth that much on average, I think it's been mystified a little lately and people are just thinking it's worth that and paying stupid prices.

There are a couple of disk versions of Clu Clu Land, from what I remember. I think one costs about $100 and the other costs about $500 or something. I don't recall any details...just vague memories of seeing them on YHJ.

The Clu Clu Land racketboy is referring to is the Disk Writer Version which is entirely different than Clu Clu Land on cart.

Even with the paper manual, it sells for 40,000 - 60,000Y or roughly ($450-$650).

Your 110-n-1 is likely worth $15 tops.

Aren't there two versions on disk, though? I think the only difference was the title screen -- one had a reversed "Clu."

Looks like something you could get more than $20 for too though.  If you are trying to sell it on eBay, I'd start a listing at perhaps $29.99/24.99+shipping or so and see what happens.  Unless someone familiar with it chimes in.  But the one listed on eBay now offers free airmail from Japan, so he won't be getting the full $50 (- fees on top of that as well).  That seller has also been known to have some high prices as well, but I've seen some good deals from him too.

If I were to sell my Kaettekita Mario Bros., what should I expect to get for it?  It is a legit disk with both labels in perfect condition.  It seems to be quite rare as I never see it on eBay. 

It sells for about $15-20 in Japan, iirc. I wanted to buy it a while back but haven't paid attention lately. I'd assume it'd go for about double here. It's rarer here, of course.

Loose Kaettekita Disks are about $20 in Japan.  I sell them for $30 loose when I have them, which is cheap for it already being in the US.

Like JC said, you could probably get $30-$40.

I've found it to be kinda hard to find the SFII title screen. The carts I get are always MFII. I wouldn't think it'd be valued too much higher. But, you know, I remember a long time ago when a MF was listed on eBay at the same time as an SF, the MF sold for much less and SF sold for more, but still not much more than $15 anyway.

I got my DK G&W for $35 loose...it has a little scratch on the top...so don't expect them cheap.

It's hard to judge its worth, because it's not a widely known game. What I've found is games like Somari -- which is crap -- can sell for $25-40, but good games that are less well known, like the Shin-chan unlicensed original, wouldn't sell for much, like $10-15, even though I'm asking $25 in my sale thread.

I'd say you'd be lucky to get $10 for this from most people, but I'll give you more. PM me if it's for sale.

In Japan or elsewhere in the world?

In Japan a complete Neunzhen can sell for well over $100.  Elsewhere $30-$45.

I would say that it is a deal, given how hard it may be to find a toploader. And you're getting games with it. I say go for it.

I think that's a good deal, I paid 50 for my top loader with no games. This was before all those clones like the NEX and Retro Duo hit the market though.

Not me, ericj. But I think a GD could get about $20 -- they never come with a power adaptor, it seems. And the only rack I've ever seen sold for $100, but that was CIB. I don't imagine getting too much for it, tho it's a cool item.

Nes on Famicom, 8 -15$ depending on what kind it is.
Famicom in NES, 20-35$ depending on what kind it is.

Really?  I figured it would have been the other way around, since it's a little easier to find Famicom in NES converters on black box games than it is to find a NES on Famicom converter at all.

I'd say they're both worth about $13-18, unless they're HoneyBee, which would be $25-45 -- there's one large HoneyBee for the front-loading NES (for Famicom games) that's worth the most, I'd think, since it doesn't require a ribbon.

Recca loose sells for about $100 in Japan. In the US, I've seen it sell for $100-125.

Below you will see two prices beside each title. The first is the average daily selling price, which is typically the going rate for the cartridge by itself. The second price is the highest daily selling price of recent history. The list is ordered by the balance of the two prices. Note that some of these games are not rare in the sense that there are not many available, but rare relative to demand, which makes the games expensive. It is also worth nothing that we are not including prototype or one-of-a-kind cartridges.

While admittedly a mainstream competition (most of us could have won with no problem), the event was a high point in Nintendo's glamorous reign at the top of the gaming market, and is remembered by many with great enthusiasm. After its promotion in the popular Nintendo Power and through the Powerfest tour, kids everywhere practiced feverishly in hopes of heading to this event, seeing the wonder of light and sound, playing some Rad Racer, and winning it all.The actual game is a timed compilation of three titles, each adjusted for the tournament, and containing a unique scoring system. Players begin the challenge by completing the first world of Super Mario Bros., then must finish a quick lap in Rad Racer before taking off to Tetris where the remaining time runs out. The game then multiplies your Rad Racer and Tetris scores, adds all three results, and lets you know how well you did. Coveted Unlicensed Games
The NES had a number of unlicensed titles that didn't receive the Nintendo Seal of Approval. Since most of them had a very limited release, it isn't a surprise that many are worth quite a bit.

Myriad 6 in 1: $700 - $2,900
6-in-1 (Caltron): $525 - $2080

The 6-in-1 Myriad cart and its sibling, the Caltron 6-in-1 have become some of the more standout collector's items on the Nintendo Entertainment System. As the name suggests, they are a collection of 6 games, which are about as good as you'd expect from an independent, unlicensed title.While the games themselves was released many times, these actual carts were released twice, the other time from Caltron, who reportedly went bankrupt during it's production. Myriad Games would later acquire the leftover carts, shipping them out in a new box, and with a numbered label for the price of $69.That sum might have seemed steep then, but it would be a steal for that today. While it might be slightly outdated information, a Digital Press posting lists #888 is the highest number found, so it's unlikely that more than a thousand exist. The games from adult publisher, Panesian, obviously didn't meet Nintendo's strict content guidelines. And even without the whole Seal of Approval business, the chances of your average retailer carrying the games would be pretty slim. So what was Panesian (the publisher) to do? Ship it only to video stores as a mail-order release. I'm not sure it can be said how many copies are out there, but it is presumably less a thousand.It is very easy to imagine, even with the game's immense rarity, that you could walk into a flea market, thrift shop or video store and discover one of these games hidden away for a dollar. Why is that? The game wasn't packaged in the cardboard box typical of most NES releases, but rather in a VHS-esque movie case. The copies still left unclaimed for are most likely shoved in with regular old movies rather than games, meaning there are plenty of unsearched places to look for it.Bubble Bath Babes is a puzzle game featuring an 8-bit rendered, unclothed female at the bottom of the screen. Peek A Boo Poker and Hot Slots are your standard poker and slot machine games with extra "character" so to speak.Judging from the cover art, I think we all have an idea of what kind of video store might still contain it...but a grail is a grail, and this one goes for over half a grand, so don't hesitate to uncover a copy for yourself (or for eBay).The prices for each of these games seems to be skyrocketing over the last few years. Just a few years ago, you could find these pop up on eBay for $500 or less. Since then they have nearly doubled in price if recent successful eBay auctions are any indication. I have not seen a completed auction of Bubble Bath Babes in a while, but that is not surprising as it is considered the rarest and most valuable of the trio. Considering the recent prices of both Peek A Boo Poker and Hot Slots, one could come to the conclusion that a complete copy of Bubble Bath Babes could raise more than $1400.

Cheetahman II: $400 - $503

Thinking back to the early 1990s, you can probably easily recall how incredibly popular the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were (at least in the US). The Cheetahman franchise was a relatively bizzare attempt to capitalize on the idea of humanoid animal action heroes. (I guess those at Active Enterprises thought it sounded like a good idea). In addition to the unlicensed Nintendo games, the publisher actually had high hopes of cashing in with action figures, t-shirts, a cartoon TV show before the word spread of the the series' lack of quality.Despite the franchise's lackluster performance a second installment of Cheetahmen was completed, although not officially released. Eventually, but 1997 all of the reported 1,500 copies of the game left their warehouse and were sold to the public. However, once people actually played the game, they realized there was more to its cancellation than it's namesake. What makes this otherwise standard game so rare, is that just after its release, it was recalled. As an official third party title, Stadium Events made use of an accessory called the Family Fun Fitness Pad. It required the player(s) to run or step rapidly in order to complete each event. Upon its release, Nintendo decided to grant the game a first party production, recalling the scant initial cartridges that had been sent out.The game would later become "World Class Track Meet" and would be played with Nintendo's own controller the "Power Pad". Both became very common and were boxed-in with many NES consoles. But Stadium Events, the original anomaly, had snuck out in ever so limited numbers. 2000 copies is believed to have been the total distribution tally, but doesn't consider how many of those were sold prior to Nintendo's recall. Some have suggested that no more than 200 actually made it into NES owners' homes.

Bubble Bobble Part 2: $56 - $163

If you're an old-school gaming fan, it is hard not to love the Bubble Bobble franchise. The original is a common mainstay in the NES library, but Bubble Bobble Part 2 was released in 1993 which was very late in the NES's life span. Two years after the SNES was released actually. Because of this the game never sold very well and became very rare.

Little Samson: $55 - $150

Little Samson is a gem of a platformer developed by Taito to try and mimic the huge success of other platforming games on the NES. Even though it did a good job in terms of graphics and gameplay, it didn't quite have the marketing power to prevent it from selling poorly. Now that NES fans are delving back into the large library looking for Hidden Gems, Little Samson has risen in value.

California Raisins: $45 - $1,000

California Raisins was developed by Capcom but was never released commercially. The game was largely completed in 1991, but due to the diminishing fame of the claymation namesakes, it was never sold in stores and led to it becoming a rare treasure to collectors. You can find cartidges on eBay every now and then, but complete copies are elusive and have been known to fetch around $1,000

Dragon Warrior IV: $45 - $128

Dragon Warrior IV is the final NES installment of the popular Enix RPG series. The game was another classic case of a game coming out too late in the NES's life to sell very well. The game received much critical praise when it was released. As a matter of fact, Nintendo Power rated it the 2nd best game of the year. The best sale of recent history was this complete and pristine copy that went for nearly $130. Keep in mind, that isn't sealed -- a sealed copy would go for far more - especially since it is part of such a popular franchise.

Snow Brothers: $49 - $80

Snow Brothers is an arcade port that is very similar to Bubble Bobble in terms of style. The game did not sell very well despite its solid gameplay. In fact, Ocean had licensed the game for the Amiga and Atari ST but canceled the games part way through development because of perceived bad sales.

Fire 'N Ice: $45 - $153

Fire N Ice is the sequel to the NES favorite, Solomon's Key (and is called Solomon's Key 2 in Europe and Japan). Like many rare NES games, it was released in after the NES lost popularity and did not sell well. The name change in the US probably didn't help any either. However, once again, releasing an NES game in 1993 was a recipe for creating a collector's item.

Duck Tales 2: $37 - $130

Duck Tales 2 is the sequel to the original Duck Tales game on the NES and is, of course, based on the Disney TV series that many of us grew up with. The single biggest determinant in the game being hard to find now and a collector's item, it was released in 1993. I wish I was still buying NES games back in 1993 instead of moving onto the SNES and Genesis.

The Flintstones: The Surprise at Dinosaur Peak: $75 - $250

As the NES era drew to a close, publishers like Taito released many of their games exclusively to game rental companies while bypassing the traditional retail market. The Flintstones II is the best example of this in the US, but is a bit easier to find in Europe. Of course, since it was primarily a rental game, finding a complete copy in good condition is especially challenging.

Remember R.O.B. The Robot? Gyromite may be the most popular game to play with the NES's early companion, but Stack Up was yet another option for our friend. I'm putting this on the bottom of the list because the game itself isn't very rare (can be found for about $15), but it is very hard to find in complete condition due to all the pieces that were included.

They seem to be rare now. The original price was 2394 Yen, about 24$. If you need to have it, even in Japan you'd have to shell out over 100$ for sure, but in the end it's only a controller. IMO it's not worth spending 200$ on a simple controller.

Clu Clu Land isn't worth much, but looking at the guide a couple posts above, I'd say Chubby Cherub is rare, but that guide is highly overpriced, so I don't have an exact number/estimate.

Clu Clu Land, not at all. Obake no Qtarou, maybe. If the main character is gold in color, then I'd say it would be worth more than the regular version, which has a white main character, I think.

CIB it can be quite expensive (50-80$ on eBay), but cart only is quite cheap in Japan. The last one I saw at a store was 980 Yen and I'm sure it can be had for cheaper someplace else.

1 and 2 are usually a bit more expensive than 3-6.

I only can speak for prices in Japan, which differ wildly from time to time, but you should be prepared to pay any amount  between 15 and 40$ for 1 and 2 and around half of that for 3-6.

I bought all six for $85, so I think that says a lot. The first Rockman is the most expensive.

yea that was a good deal. gunstar heroes is a generally expensive game even as a loose cart.

Really, no more than $5?  Supervision carts are sort of rare, aren't they?

I don't see them too often, but they're just pirates. No different, imo, than if you're buying any other Rockman 2 pirate.

I got my Battletoads for around $10-15. It was a trade, so hard to say really. I don't follow disk games enough to know about Bio Miracle.

I know of a few that play NES games, but with a converter, will do just the same thing.  I have an FC Mobile, which I got off eBay for $30 shipped.  They're also a lot easier to find than Game Axes.  The reason GAs are so much is because of their quality.  They don't run on a NOAC IIRC.

I would say the SMB2j would be worth around $30; probably around $7-10 for the Lemmings. I have no sources to back up my estimates, though.  :P

I'd say $25, give or take a few. That's the price I'd put on it. Earthworm Jim 3 is rarer, I think, but both are $25+, imo.

In terms of gameplay, Earthworm Jim 3 is amazing. It's short, which is the case with ports, but it's very fun -- great music, good graphics, controls well. I have it on a multi. Never seen it on its own cart.

Judging by NT-876 title, there could be a Earthworm Jim 3 on it's own cart.  I don't have it, so I can't be 100% sure.  I have it on a 3 in 1 (KT8003), the same cart cart as JC in the pirate section of famicomworld.

What's the general worth of cart to FDS games? Some titles go for more than others or are they all about just as rare?

I know those are definitely more obscure than FDS to cart games, but I guess I'm not sure if they're as rare or not.

that's a good question. I think that some of them are harder to find and more obscure and well unique so their prices are higher. I wonder if there is any FDS game worth more than 100 dollars other than all night nippon....

The worth of FDS to cart games is based on the game, not rarity or anything else. For example, I can get tons of Doki Doki Panic carts, but they sell for $60 and up. I've never seen some disk games on cart but if I did and tried to sell them here, I'd be luck to get $20. So, in terms of range, $20-150 per cart. The high end is Doki and All Night Nippon.

How much would a complete Otocky be worth in NA? (I am aware of Japanese prices, but would be interested in the overseas situation)

Don Doko Don isn't rare but isn't the easiest to find. I'd put it at less than $8. I don't know anything about Conker's Bad Fur Day. Rockman 5 CIB less than $23. And Contra complete? Does that mean with or without the Konami card? With $50ish, without $40ish. But I don't buy complete ever so I could be wrong.

It can be. When I went to the store in Seattle, I paid more than double what I should have for Hammerin' Harry. I like supporting independent gaming stores, but the prices were pretty high.

I can't find what was being referred to here, but it sounds like you had that same cart I've got.  Odd Mario 4 label with a hacked SMB2j game (you play SMB3 Mario, stars make you fly, etc.).  Hadn't heard of another one with that game, so I was interested to know if another one was found (I had been told chip'n'dale was found on another cart with the same label before).  One of the coolest carts I own IMO.

Very good.  After shipping, you're paying roughly $2 per game.  There are quite a few games I could pick out that are worth over that.  Such as Hoshi no Kirby, 4 Pulse Lines, Doraemon, Tetris, and a boxed Famicom game, which is pretty cool.

Apparently that shipping will take around two months.

That's seriously the most ridiculous thing ever. Well, I don't want to pay $60 for shipping so that's what I get, I guess.

So, I was on Youtube, and I came across a few videos for the game DuckTales on the NES.  I've also heard almost nothing but praise for this game.  I'm pretty sure this is true, someone tell me if it's not, but isn't there a Rockman hack of this game?  If so, how much does it usually go for?  DuckTales looks really fun, and having Rockman in it would just make it better.

Dunno about Duck Tales (as far as a hack is concerned, but I had both games as a kid and they are both great), but there is a Rockman hack of Darkwing Duck (DD is very similar to Rockman to begin with, so I expect it works well). Rockman Special is what I saw on eBay some months back with this hack.

Cult had that hack for sale not too long ago. It was called rockman 5.

I think the one I saw was asking 9.99 or 14.99 + 15 shipping and didn't sell...  I used to keep that seller in my watch list, but will have to go looking for who that was again (Progressive123 or something similar to that name).   EDIT: tried searching the seller on eBay, and can find members close to that name (and the same exact name suggested), but not the right one, and they weren't in the US.

You might as well ask how much every game ever pirated is worth. :P That's too many to go through each one. I guess someone might try. I'd say the vast majority, because of the games or the condition are worth $15 or less. You'd have trouble selling some of those for more than $2.50. The only ones worth anything to people on here, from the sales I've done, are Somari, the Sonic multi and the higher number (60+ games) multis.

Not even close.  Planet_Haxxor usually sells single-cart Recca pirates for around $30 in good condition.  I have a multicart that contains Pokemon Green, Spartan X 2, Chip & Dale 2, and Recca that I got for $25.

It definitely is, even if a pirate isn't worth much.  It's a great game to own.  It's a great shmup.  Best you'll ever see on the Famicom.  It still surprises me even after how many times I've played it how there is virtually no slowdown during gameplay.

@ nintendodork, castlevania 1 is expensive mabey up to 90. Castlevania legend is about 30. And dracula kun about 10 to 15. (all loose)

Akumajo Dracula cart is expensive, somewhere around $100. Kid Dracula I'd say $20.

I never understood why the AD cart is so expensive.  I think it was nensondubois who posted one that he got CIB from JapanGameStock for $50.

It was a late release, as the original release was on the FDS. In1993 Famicom sales weren't what they were five years earlier.

Hi, this is more of a rarity check, but how rare is Pika, the hack of Nuts and Milk? I have it, but ive never seen it anywhere else.

If a hack isn't extremely popular, chances are you won't see it a lot -- if ever again.  I have seen this hack on multicarts from 3 different people selling them on FW at one time or another, though.  So if that's any indication, I guess.

I have 4 different hacks, including the Pika one, of Nuts & Milk, so I doubt it's worth very much.

I checked some online stores. Cart only is very cheap (few $). CIB copies are a bit rarer it seams and go for around 30$, abit less if you're lucky.

The Power Ranger games aren't worth much, a few dollars each, maybe up to $5. The JY Power Ranger original is worth the most, between $20 and $30. Funny how that happens.

When I wanted to buy Action 52 a few years ago, it was going for $50-65. With manual, no clue. Now? No clue.

It's hard to know what it is by just the label. It could be anything from NES Lion King to a hack of Tiny Toons to something really cool and original.

Its just called Tekken.  I haven't bought the 4in1s yet since they're a bit expensive and I don't know if they're worth it.

A multi with Recca (Summer Carnival) should get you upwards of $20, depending on the other games.  I know single pirates actually go for about $25 or $30.  The ones with Pokemon on them, I'm assuming you're talking about the ones that are graphics hacks under the names Pokemon Red and Blue.  Those are about the same, maybe a little more. Multicarts totally range depending on who made them, how many unique games they have, etc.  But for how you're describing it, probably no more than $15 at the most-- and that's pushing it.  Mario 8 is kind of sought after here on the forums, I remember a few people having that in their want lists.  I'd say the Mario series games are worth anywhere from $15-$25.

I just have to say, stumbling on some old pirates a couple of months ago has got me more excited about collecting.  At first I just signed up here to find out which ones were worth anything, but something about the weirdness of it all has got under my skin...and everyone on this forum is awesome.  I think I'm here to stay...

Awhile back I was in a bidding war for just a Famicom converter it was a spica and went for $56. And I recently found a guy who will sell me the following for $40 shipped. I was wondering if it was worth the price?

The converter is worth maybe 15$,but if it comes with those games the multicart maybe 15-20$ and the powerjoy cart maybe 10$.
So essentially its right on the value of it if you get the 2 carts also, its not worth more then that.

I'd say so because each of those are worth over $10.  That multicart might have some cool games on it too.  Power Joy is also a popular multi.

Nope, that specific kind with the ribbon should work perfectly on a toaster NES; some converters are made only for a toploader but that one isnt.

It's sought-after, not necessarily rare.  Which, even though it doesn't make sense, tends to result in lower prices than rare items no one is going to actually play and only keep for a collection.

Its like regular Contra on NES.
Its extremely common but it still goes for 9$ since its so sought after.

I imagine if Vash were selling it it'd be around $8-$15 or something. There's really no definite price for anything though, depends on what the person selling it thinks its worth, especially since I don't think I've ever seen it for sale before.

I like those last two screen. There's a game called Merio that does similar things (swimming in the sky) but I don't think I've seen the one above.

It's a common HK hack of SMB2J--there are other common versions--the two that come to mind are a "cartoonish" version and another where Mario has fireballs all the time but doesn't swim (and gets bigger/smaller when hit instead of losing a life--your version probably does the same).  It's worth the $4 you probably paid for it.

Sorry to ask another question about it, but what's on Side B? Usually it's a copy program of some sort. If it gives you Error 20 or 22, try it with a game doctor.

Not true.  There are 2 versions of Earthworm Jim 2. One is by Shin Shin (the one pictured) and one by Super Game. Earthworm Jim 3 is totally different and was made by an unknown developer.

I'd say Earthworm Jim 2 by Super Game is the rarest. I've never seen in actual cartridge form. I only played the rom. Earthworm Jim 3 is the most common. I have it on a 3 in 1 cartridge. Earthworm Jim 2 by Shin Shin has 2 different labels (NT849 and NT855).

Any know what a Super Disk Interceptor is worth? It attachs to a Super Nintendo/Famicom so you can play games off of floppy disks.

Most of the copiers are worth around $50. Most people don't want them anymore since the SNES PowerPak is available. Check on Tototek's forum. Someone there might know what it's worth.

:)  Thanks for the link, but I'm definitely looking to price out a "new" copy.  I don't have anything against the used ones, but if I can get a new one for a similar price to a used, that's preferable.  The 9 or so FDS games I own right now were all bought new, and it's a fun feeling opening them myself.  As far as I can tell, the used prices on many of these games are relatively close, but I just want to check before posting a WTB or pulling the trigger on the next copy that pops up on ebay.

Neither would be above $10.  I got SMB2j CIB for $11, and I got a loose copy of VS. Excitebike (without a label or title card) for $5.  I would say each is worth probably $8 with the label and title card, less if it's missing either one of those.

Not exactly Famicom-related but I've got a factory sealed SNES controller. Was going to tear into it because my current SNES controller is getting a little funky in the d-pad area... but thought I'd query to see if it's worth keeping sealed for resale.

I got this interesting game case from the seller on Rakuten I bought from. It was just tossed in to keep a Bastard!! cart w/ it's manual. I didn't even notice it was Nintendo brand right away b/c it was turned so the pic on it faced the manual. Here's a pic of the case:

As you can see, it's from Super Mario Bros 4: Super Mario World and has Mario riding Yoshi. Anyone know where is came from, how rare it is, and what it's worth? Next order I make from these guys I'm going to ask if they have any more of them, but I think it was just a fluke that I happened to get one. I'm thinking it's similar to the rental cases we got here in the US that have the Nintendo logo on them, but this is obviously way cooler. Also note it only fits a Super Famicom cartridge; an SNES one is too big.

Don't have a camera on me at the moment, but I'd like a price check on an 82 in 1 NES white pirate multicart called Starwar Top Gun. It was shipped with a pirate NES system called a "SPICA" and the label has faded quite a bit.

I'd estimate that cart at around $20. Little Samson isn't that easy to find, nor is Bonk's Adventure or Adventure Island 4. You probably couldn't find any of those games on a single cart for less than $8.

Just found a guy selling four pirated famicom carts here in my country so I need a quick price check on these 4 pirates:

So what is considered a fair price for a Super Famicom Hotel Box that has Mario Kart, Mahjong, Golf, and Super Mario Collection? There is one for sale right now for $180 and $150 S&H. I probably won't be getting this one but I will be buying one in the next year or so hopefully and I have no idea what these usually go for.

well, it's hard to say what rare games are worth, but you should ask at least 5000 yen.

I don't quite understand, what is wrong with asking for prices in yen? I have to convert the currency anyways...

You might be able to do a bulk sale. Some people here (like me) are into buying and selling, and we could buy your games in bulk. But you get more if you sell them separately.

I got some famicom disk games today, complete with box and manual. Some of them I couldn't find on eBay, or only expensive. Is there a value for them?
Such games as Adventures of Chatran (platformer), Pro Golfer Saru (golf puzzle game), and Transformers: The Headmasters (shooter).

anyone know how much the "Family Computer 1983-1994" book is worth? (the one that has photos of every Famicom game plus descriptions and interviews and stuff in Japanese and English).

Loose, genuine (i.e. non-pirate) Famicom (i.e. not NES) games: $10 to $20 or so, depending on the condition and the buyer. This is due to demand, not rarity, mind you.  :bomb:

Well I've never actually seen the first one before, but I'm sure some of the price would be determined on what version of Super Mario Bros. 2 is included. (The Japanese version is usually referred to as Gold Mario or something like that, while the western version is typically rebadged as Super Bros. 5 and based off the PAL version for reasons unknown) I haven't got a clue which one is included so I can't comment on it. That said, I was never very good with price valuing in general. :P

1st: about $15, label is not original. if it doesn't have SMB2j, then about $7.
2nd: I'd say $13, hacks are popular but the ones included are quite common
3rd: $5 (maybe even less), it's very very common.
4th: If it's the Kaiser version i'd say: $30-$35, if it's the one without title screen graphics and without this cheat: d-pad up + Start, then it would only worth about $20. Or if it's Super Bros. 4, I think it has some extra features so about $30 (but I'm not sure, should ask to famiac).

First post! Found this clone system and couldn't resist picking it up. It's missing the AC adapter, but everything else looks great (minus the box). No clue on the value of clone systems, wasn't sure if this was any more or less than a standard Famicom. From a little research on the web this was also referred to as the "Terminator" system. I seemed to  find more info on the Terminator 2, however (judgment clone?). Guessing it's PAL. Figured this was the best place to ask about this one.

终结者 (literary "Ending Man" or one who is in the "Ending" line of work) is simplified Chinese and apparently means "The Terminator". Judging by that it's a Chinese clone and thus should be PAL as you guessed. I can't help about the price though sorry. We have to ask one of the experts here.

For the famiclone EndingMan, I'd say ~$30-35. It's still much better than the very recent famiclone that sells new for about ~$20. Still Famiclones are hard to sell unless they have something awesome.

For example when I bought Super Mario Bros. IV; it had a lot higher price ($20) as it was seemingly scarce but before we knew it we had many international members joining which lowered it's worth substantially to around $5.

fredj; It's really only portings, certain mario hacks and disk system conversions; they have value as they are interesting and usually fun to play for one reason or another.

For example, Mario IV is a simple hack of Armadillo with Mario and Luigi added into the game, Pocket Green is a hack of Kero Kero Kerropi 2 with a few pokemon characters using sprites taken from gameboy pokemon games, Sonic the Hedgehog/Earthworm Jim 3 are both portings from Sega Megadrive, Super Mario World is ported from Super Nintendo, Super Donkey Kong is a porting of Donkey Kong Land from original Gameboy and Super Mario Bros. 2J was a disk system conversion.

I think Holy Diver is kinda sought after, maybe ten or fifteen dollars or so resale.  Takeshi's Challenge loose maybe a couple bucks, there was a little surge in interest for that game back when the GameCenter CX episode was getting some notoriety but now everyone has realized that yes, it is just a kusoge.  Sadly I don't know anything about pirates so can't help you on Bubble Bobble.

Assuming you don't mis-match the system nameplate variation. Most systems have a FF (Famicom Family) logo on the nameplate, whereas the SBFC does not. You can also RetroBrite it with fantastic results.

At $36, you stole that. The controllers are worth more than that alone. If they don't work, or the buttons are loose, let me know.  :bomb:

A bit of background on me. I am about to finish a small but quite longing collection of Super Nintendo games, NTSC, all Brand New Sealed - 3 games to go of 45 - almost like $4k with the high priced ones. Unlike the SNES I had as a kid which was a U.S SNES; I had a Famicom for my NES years - to do justice and for my loved passion for the small carts I will collect the games of my childhood for the platform I played them in. I have been out of the Famicom scene for quite some time as I spent a lot of time(1 1/2 yrs) on my SNES collection. I have been recommended to come here and join this community from a couple of friends at NA and Sealed Game Heaven. Anyway, I'll appreciate the input regarding the titles above. Ohh, no pirate carts.

I really have no preference over where to have transactions. I have been an ebayer for a long time as would any collector. The only and major problem in the whole ordeal is that I don't know a thing about Japanese - the language. So there goes buying from Yahoo auctions, there goes buying from ebay jp etc - I really have 0 knowledge of Japanese. I figure this would be a big time impediment for many potential deals but definitely not the ultimate barrier. Considering that I got half of my  SNES sealed games on deals with other fellow collectors I am pretty sure that collecting Famicom will be the same. Half through official channels like ebay and half community involvement. For example, this site is in english so I am pretty sure I would end up dealing with some users here who might want to sell some of their copies or duplicates.

Thanks a lot for giving me a price guide on some of those titles. The ones that you Identified as there being "no famicom" release I probably played them on pirate carts. I am moving slowly but steady on research about the titles I need - some which I figured I'll have to buy the NES release. Titles like Little Mermaid, TaleSpin - The NES- Only releases. I spent the last 2 days just writing down which titles I had played back in the day - 20 something yrs ago watching youtube vids etc. I want to get mostly all of the games on the list for the famicom and the NES-Only releases for last as they are easier for me to get where I hang....just pricier hehehehe.

I got my Famicom when I was 6. The only legit Famicom carts I would get were gifts for my birthday or for ending school that my dad would buy from a store. Everything else I traded and ended up with some pirate carts hehe. I moved to the U.S and got into the SNES craze and the rest is history.

I spotted this one on ebay from a seller who has a bunch of CIB's . I guess it's fairly priced - 2k yen is about $26 dollars. I am not sure about the condition though. I still need to do some research about how the games came NIB. Like, did they came sealed? How to tell if they are new etc.......just like with SNES - I think SNES being harder with all the re-sealers I have had to deal with in the past. You'll see me often here asking stupid questions hehehe. I'll probably get ripped off a couple of times or buy  some fake NIB etc - part of the experience of being a collector.

Famicom games are not sealed. You can often tell from the boxes if they have been in use. However, I don't think you can tell if a box has been opened once very carefully - unless it is one of the boxes with sticky lid-style to the sides. I recently ruined the lid of a NIB game that way. But people don't care about NIB games here anyways, I sell NIB or "like new" for less than 20$ (if I sell them at all).

The seller says on the description that it's new. I really can't tell eheh. I offered $14 + the shipping of course makes it $20. Seller declined. I decided not to offer more till I am sure I can tell the difference or get a copy from a trusted seller in the community.

That is sad that few people care. It means a lot to me to get games new, unopened or like new with everything they came with in mint condition. It's like going back in time and getting them at the store. That is what it means to me, that feeling of hype etc that each release had at the time. I asked for "like new" copies because I had been told that most famicom games never came sealed but I though some might - and really had no idea about price - most seem cheap considering the U.S titles I collect - very expensive. So I am pretty good paying for new as long as I don't loose a leg while at it.

Either way as you said if one has been opened just once and hardly touched it would be hard to tell if that happened looking at the box alone. Nonetheless you can tell when the box was opened if you open the box and the game's baggie is wrinkled or the inserts are bent etc. It's really a shame that we don't have pictures or a written guide about NIB famicom games. I think a sticky thread with that info would be great to help newcomers + pictures are such a help!

I'll appreciate if anyone takes a few pics of 2 or 3 games NIB. That would give me an idea of what to look for.

It's really hard if not impossible to tell whether it has been opened or not.

When you open a NIB , you can tell if the lid is stiff. When you take it out, you will see if the cart is nicely tucked in the original plastic bag, the cart should obviously look unused, all the paper are under the cart (or where they should be, the manual can be above etc). You can also tell from the smell of it..

"never been opened" famicom is impossible to know.  Even VGA take out the content of famicom games before they grade it. But it has to be unused. I don't think it should matter if it has been opened once or not, what matters is that it is unused.

Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania III) is around 20-30 $ on ebay. In Japan you can get it for less than 1000 yen, because it is relatively common.
