Title: Famicom AV Mod, No video output, becomes hot.
Post by: HyldenKing on July 25, 2018, 09:28:25 am
Hello, I'm newbie to modding. I bought my famicom untested on ebay and this is the mod I did following JPX72's guide:

I use this adapter and the metal above the power jack becomes very hot. Adapter has lower amperage than needed. I used the adapter for five minutes when I bought the console :(

How can I know if the console works? is it possible that I already damaged it?

Do you have multi-meter?  Check the voltage regulator 7805 is there 5V on output. BTW I do not think that 350mA are enough power for the console.   Is the 7805 becoming hot?  :fire:
I do not want to be rude but your mod is total mess, and what is this copper thing on the PPU ?
BTW Why you removed the transistor, you should leave it in the place and make JPX72's mod with other transistor and do not remove or cut anything for back up, but now it is too late  :'(

Nope  :(

It's a copper plate.

Dunno, already removed it.

I broke the pin accidentally  ;D I'm going for TRRS though. RCA is for testing.

I'll replace the voltage regulator 7805 + couple of caps and see what happens.

Famicom Power.

Input: 100VAC 50-60Hz
Output: 10VDC 850mA
Polarity: Centre Pin Negative
(+)------------(o------------(-)
Barrel Size: Outer Diameter 5.5mm; Inner Diameter 2.1mm

That retrobit is for a NES/Genesis. Don't use it with the famicom. you could blow up the 7805

That retrobit AC adapter is probably not intended to use for any console. 350mA amperage is very low
