Title: Write Mod Coincidence
Post by: otacon6530 on April 18, 2025, 06:23:49 am
Howdy,

I have a FDS that was working great after replacing the belt inside and I wanted to enable the ability to write. I followed the guide to mod the v5 board and didn't have to mod the disk drive. However, now it won't read cards. I am getting the normal out of alignment stuff, but spent a couple hours adjusting the alignment with no positive results.

It will go blank but either reports error 22,27 or 21. Additionally, my bad card does accurately produce an error 20. Writing fails with an error 26.

My question is this. Is this just really bad timing or should I reverse the power board write mod to see if that is possibly causing this issue?

I reversed the mod and that didnt fix the issue. I aligned the spindle in three different ways. To click and face spindle towards head. To first hole and face spindle towards head. Go to 10 oclock straight with metal line and face spindle away from head.

I also adjusted the motor through each spindle adjustment until it was consistently going black and then error.

No luck yet.
