Pirate? Looks like it.
This is the Texan who has the Russian pirate I'm gonna score eventually. He sent me a different pic of this cart for the Pirated page that I'll be putting up. I think it's priced a bit high for a pirate, but then again, it's got to be a damn rare pirate. The NES game itself is pretty rare.
I can't remember where right now, but I seem to remember that there is a pirate version of this game with slightly different gameplay--it's slightly easier because either there are less enemies or the enemies aren't as hard. Can't even begin to remember where I read that.
I'd be interested to know more, Michael. I've got a Snow Bros. pirate, but I'm not very familiar with the Famicom or NES versions to be able to identify differences.

I was poking around eBay for 60-72 pin converters and this showed up. This isn't an official SMB3, is it? The art looks off, and I thought the cartridge for that was orange.
Yep, it's a pirate. The official one is yellow.
20 dollars??? O______________________O
Man I have like 15 of them in different colors
When the cart doesn't have the name of the game on it, it's a good sign it's not official :)
yeah that's way too much for just one cart. I have it so I know it's a pirated mario 3 cartridge.

;D wiseacre.
Alright, so $20 is too much. How much could I snag a converter by itself for, then?
$20 :P
I bought my first converter for $12 from a dude in Spain. That's a good price. You can get them for that much, but might have to spend a few more dollars.
Or you can wait for my ass to get back home on Sunday, clean & test out all my converters & sell you one for 10 bucks. :P
You've got yourself a deal!
Seriously. PM me with the details.
Alright, on Sunday. Seriously, after I log off right now, I won't be on until Sunday... unless something goes horribly wrong. :P
I pray for your safe return, friend.
I'm back. :( Since I'm admin, I have to stay back & do admin work. :-\ The thing is... this time I'm the senior rank within the reservists so now I have the responsibility as the chief admin. :o
I don't like being in charge. :(
First I need to try out all the converters for a review - the site comes first... then you, Flash. :P

Hey, I'm never too proud to settle for second. ;D
Okay, tested them all out - 1 seems to make the graphics scrambled. ???
I'll sell you one of the T89s - they seem to be very sturdy.

I cant tell, the pic is too close. And is it a good price for Donald Land?
All of his carts look to be pirates.
It's a pirated cart. The original cart was red.
Are those genesis pirates I see there too? :O
Hey, found this in a local store for $8 last year, and haven't seen it anywhere else, so I might as well put it here. It's a pirate of the first Pa-Man game in a Namcot style case, complete with instructions. I believe that is Chinese on the cart, but I'm not sure.
Here's a pic of it:
The only changes I can notice immediately is the copyrights that were removed on the title screen, and the cart itself has the warnings word for word as they appear on the back of an American Sega Genesis cart.
Anyone have any idea about this one?
Yup, the writing is definitely chinese kanji. maybe manuel can translate it.
Yeah, I really do want to know what it says.
Looks like an adaptation of 超人小天使. Here's a link to some of the manga:

Beautiful. Love pirate stuff, specially "complete" pirate carts!

It's based on the Pāman manga. That just looks like a Chinese translation of Pāman.
I think the game is in Japanese, though.
I wouldn't know, I can't read I either.
The title is 超人小叮噹, which reads chāorén xiǎodīngdāng and is maybe translated like Superman Little Dingdong. :D
A little google told me that Doraemon ic called (xiǎo)dīngdāng in Chinese, or so it seems.
Wow, that's funny stuff. :D
Wait, did they try to pass off a game with Pa-Man on the cover as Doraemon? :P
hahahah that's an interesting translation.

I think they tried mixing Doraemon and Superman together :P
And I think that the name of Doraemon is something like Sigari DingDong...
I actually thought he was some sort of mix of Astro Boy and Mighty Bomb Jack at first. :D
Well, that pose looks very much like Astroboy. :D
Hey guys,
I have a copy of Labyrinth... have had it for a while. The game plays fine, but I've always wondered about its legitimacy. The cart has no back label, it has two holes in the back for screws, but no place where they could logically go to. There are no keeper tabs in the cart shell itself.
The PCB board has no Nintendo markings, has Toshiba made chips, and has many of them.
Pics below:

I vote bootleg. Original cart is white and has a back label:

Interesting. I was leaning towards a bootleg too... I wondered about legitimacy because it came with a famiclone that I bought a long time ago. I was kinda hoping that if it were a bootleg cart, that it would have multiple games build into it managed by resetting or power cycling the machine. So far, no luck in that regard. I haven't played this game a whole lot, but if it is not a multicart masquerading as a individual, it must be a rather large game to warrant all those chips.
/\ I read on this forum somewhere that some people have discovered extra games on a cart after some fiddling of sorts.
Yeah, with like that Super Simpsons game. The pirate looks well made, so it probably has something else on it.
What are the methods for testing whether it has more than one game on it? Just resetting and powering on/off?
Speaking of weird looking pirate insides, look what I found in my Pa Man pirate:
Three no-name chips, but no glob top and two wires connecting the chips. I would say this is an early pirate.
The wires are probably board design errors that were discovered after the boards were mass produced.
Soldering those wires save the boards from going into a landfill because their layouts are incorrect.
Yeah, but how much more money could be saved by opening up the carts and hand-soldering the wires instead of just throwing them away?
That's only the second transparent pirate I've seen. The other is The Goonies in red. They're cool, but definitely pirated. There's a Labyrinth proto that's white with a white label. And there's a Salamander proto that's a blue transparent cart, slightly different from the retail release.
I love transparent carts.
How many legit transparent carts are there? A full set would be pretty cool to have in a collection.
Dunno how many transparent carts there are. This one didn't even have keeper tabs in it. I had to apply a little glue to the edges to put it back together (was glued when I got it as well). Recca would totally look cool in a clear casing... too bad they seem to be few and rather far between... I momentarily thought of sacrificing this cart to put the Recca board in it. I did decide against that though.
Does anyone know how many carts were made with clear shells, bootleg or non? I imagine that it couldn't be too hard to make them, if you knew someone in the right field of manufacture.
Here's this, looks like a pirate Link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290306591283&category=11988&_trksid=p3907.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUA%252BIA%252BUCI%26otn%3D15%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D54)
Yep. Nice.

I think it is a pirate
Absolutely.
Is this official ?
Yes it is definitely official plus I identified it as Stack-up for ROB and it is called Robot Block on the famicom.
I agree.
I didn't find this game in the list of this site.... what is the official name of the game ?
It's either Robot Block or Robot Gyro, I think that one is Robot Gyro.
We have it listed as Stack-Up, although it should be Robot Block:
