It just seems like clutter to me. And it does very little to reduce the number of ties.

I think it's fine this way, -- actually, I don't see a better way right now, -- but instead of creating a new thread for each new poll, just edit this thread's poll, eliminating one game each time and resetting the vote count to zero. Keep the polls on a strict voting time limit of like 24 hours, that way people know when a new poll is up -- so they don't miss a poll if they really don't want to.

Exactly. This list will not reflect my own personal gaming opinions, but rather the overall opinions of the entire community. What more can you ask for? I'm a big Famicom Wars fan, but apparently the community doesn't agree, and it was tossed out almost right away.
I should get a new non-cheapo capture card for x-mas, and I'm thinking of doing some sort of video commentary for this. Any have any suggestions for what I could do?

Must be an SMF bug. I had to type in one new entry, hit preview, type in the next new one, hit preview, and repeat. It seemed to jumble up the order as I was trying to get it to work, so I reset the 3 votes that were there.

The results seem spot on. I keep thinking, "But Hino Tori is such a great game," or "But Tetris is such a great game." And then I look at what's left on the list and pretty much realize the ones that remain are better...well, except for a couple that suck and need to go away. :P

That would actually be nice. You could even put it on FW's youtube page (or did it get hacked again?). I would make it simple, maybe two parts. Show some gameplay footage while you talk about why it was so good.

crazy... I can't believe Mario 3, Hoshi no Kirby, and Sweet Home are getting votes. All three are such fantastic games, yet they're losing to Castlevania 1, Metroid, and Doki Doki Panic? the last three are good as well, but...
Thats the way the cookie crumbles. I think this is great as it gives the entire community input. Its whatever Famicom World decides, not what any single one of us thinks. I'm sure we all would have a different order and probably even different games in the final 25. So try not to get too upset, just go with it.

yes, Castlevania should be out soon, but my honest opinion is it's more deserving of a higher position than Rockman 5. regardless, Rockman 2 will certainly do very well in the final lineup.

Nah, that would be Sweet Home IMO. If you haven't played it, give it a try and you'll see why it should have survived until top 10. ah well, too late for the latter now...
Sweet Home is the only RPG-style game I've found playable. I guess, that's if you don't count King Kong 2 as RPGish.

I'd like to kick out Ninja Gaiden now...
You know what's weird? Anytime someone mentions kicking out a game, a few members dutifully vote for it. Ninja Gaiden has done really great up to now, but because you mentioned it, it somehow has 4 votes already. :P
There were two votes for it before he made the comment. I think it's just next up (or close to next) on the chopping block.
I went with Metroid, though. It's an excellent concept, but the execution is somewhat poor. Metroid II and Super Metroid do the concept justice. This is the same reasoning I used to vote out Castlevania and not Castlevania III.

Manuel mentionned to take out ninja gaiden, and from looking at that list I do have to agree. I was never really close to the ninja gaiden series, and I played it a few times and find it...meh. So my vote goes for Ninja Gaiden! :o
My mind boggles how Doki Doki Panic could possibly survive over Ninja Gaiden and Bionic Commando. The world stopped making sense.
I'd guess members have a nostalgic connection with Doki through NES SMB2, plus a respect for it as having been the original version. I'd think some are just fascinated with the Nazi imagery of Hitler no Fukkatsu. I think Ninja Gaiden is cool, but I don't have any care if it stays or goes, but it's definitely going down this time.
How did Ninja Gaiden get at 14 anyway? I'd think top ten at least. Well, that's the number game!

I happen to think this poll is great. A list like this has been lacking for long time. The only thing similar I can find is from Famitsu, but that's different. People that played the Famicom when it was current have a different perspective.
WOW! Mother, #13?! I played Metroid and Mother last summer and I remember Mother being ALOT more enjoyable than Metroid...Oh well. The peoples votes have spoken I guess. :P And by the way this poll is great and all, but I think you shouldnt be allowed to see the vote results UNTIL you have voted yourself. Notice how its always the same games who get the most votes and all. I bet some of the people here who voted were easily convinced of what to vote for by the results they saw. :-\ :P

I hope Kirby finishes in the top 3. GREAT gameplay, along with lots of power ups and lots of things to explore,great music, and it has battery backup to save your games! Really one of the biggest titles to grace the NES in my opinon. :P

But it's waaaaay too easy. The only challenge in that entire game is the final boss fight (and maybe some of the minigames).

That's not a genre, it's just people covering or writing songs about Rockman. Oh and those covers with vocals going right over the melody is stupid as hell. I agree the Rockman music is great, but Mario music is just as good IMO. SMB3 is so much more diverse in terms of level design and game play though, ans there is just a lot more to SMB3.

As most people here know, I'm an absolute Rockman nut. I looooooooooooove the Rockman/Megaman series so much. All nine classic series games are among my favorite games ever. Megaman 2 is the pinnacle of the series because it improved upon what Capcom did in Rockman 1 while retaining everything that made it good. Every other Rockman game is good because it follows the same formula of Rockman 2. Even though it looks like this is where the train stops for Rockman, it's still #1 in my book.

How is Zelda still in.
I dont like Zelda 1, but Zelda 2 is quite fun.

Zelda is still in there it defined the action RPG genre, which gives it a historical importance. Unlike many historically important video games, though, Zelda is still fun to play. It has aged very, very well.
This can also be said for SMB1. There are better platformers out there, but SMB1 is still a fun game.
Joe is very right about that, it's also like, one of the first RPGs ever.
Zelda is awesome; it definitely deserves to be in the top 3. It is the ultimate fantasy adventure on the famicom; the Hyrule Fantasy! haha. I can see that it may be too hard for some, but it is definitely a pioneer. Many good things have came from zelda too! One being the welfare of Nintendo as hardcore zelda fans keep buying new games, like me! I'm the guy who bought that black gamecube that came with the zelda collection disk. Zelda also continues to give on the wii, if you know what I mean ;).
We should do a write-in vote and replace Zelda 1 with Ocarina of Time.

Smb3 is definitely the one of the funnest games on the console. However, the challenge fades over time. Someone needs to make a hack; something along the lines of smb2j. It can be called Super Mario Bros. 3.2 Japan version for Super Players!!! hahaha. Man, that would be really cool. :D It's kinda strange if you think about it; there are many smb1 hacks but no smb3 hacks. You'd think that the obvious favorite would get more attention. Maybe it is due to the fact that is more complex than smb1. idk.

Mario 3 is more fun than Mario IMO opinion because its longer and has a different atmosphere in each world not like Mario 1 where its either night, day, underground, water or castle. Mario 3 has everything from an Ice World to a Desert World.

I'll be starting my write up soon. If anyone would like to add their two cents (maybe a good solid paragraph or two) on any particular game, please PM me with your words. I want to do my write-up with each game being expressed from my point of view and then a fourm members, sort of how IGN has another writer add their opinion for the last paragraph for a lot of their reviews.
Doing it this way gives the reader a broader scope of the game as it wouldn't just be what one person thinks. I'll credit any contributors.
