Went to Goodwill today and bought a Nintendo Famicom system. It has RF and Audio/Video jacks. It looks just like all the original red and white Famicoms I see online except the 2nd controller has no microphone and both controllers have turbo switches for the A/B buttons.
It even has HVC-001, Nintendo Co Ltd. 1983 and Made in Japan on the bottom and also has the silver serial# sticker. So the case really looks original, but most of the info online says the original Famicom only had an RF jack.
This is not a mod because I opened it up and the A/V jacks are stock. The back even has a sticker that labels all the jacks.
At first I didn't think it was a bootleg, but I opened it up and the motherboard doesn't have the Nintendo logo anywhere on it. So it must be just a very good pirate version that has audio/video jacks.
It's not working; even using the power supply from my original Famicom A/V system. So I'll try to repair any capacitors I can and see if that fixes it. If not, at least it looks cool and only cost $10.
I got my lookalike clone from Goodwill, too, and it didn't work when I bought it. All it needed was a new voltage regulator, so you may want to check that first. Nice find.

Any suggestions on where to get the required voltage regulator?
Radio Shack or online. It's probably just a common 7805, so it can be bought pretty easily for less than a buck online, or $1.59 at RS.

I'll take some photos soon.
Man that's really cool finding that! I think I might have peed my pants a little if I saw what looked like a Famicom at Goodwill. LOL Ok might be an exaggeration, considering I found a 3DO at Value Village and didn't experience any bladder control problems. ;D
