Title: Searching for Famicom cartridge's paper box template
Post by: jpx72 on November 04, 2011, 05:26:27 am
Since my question got lost in other topic, I'm creating a new one -  can somebody please help me with making a paper box for Metal Slader Glory and Uchuu Keibitai SDF? I have hi-res scans of MSG (but only front and back in hi-res), but I have only front scanned for SDF. I'm not asking for the scans (although those too would be nice), but for the box measurements and layout to print and fold to make a original-sized box.
I do have (http://jpx72.detailne.sk/stuff_files/fc/carts_original_files/Gunsight_box.jpg) that kind of boxed game, but I don't want to tear the box apart to measure it. But maybe somebody did it before.
Those boxes I'm looking for are different from boxes that Madara (http://jpx72.detailne.sk/stuff_files/fc/carts_original_files/Madara_box.jpg) or Lagrange point uses. They are not so tall.
Games that use this kind of paper box:
Uchuu Keibitai SDF
Metal Slader Glory
Shin 4 Nin Uchi Mahjong: Yakuman Tengoku
Gunsight
...don't know about others.

You do not have to tear the box apart just to measure it... if you want i can give you dimensions of the boxes i have but they are not that tall ) just get a ruler and write stuff down :)
Here is an example ( the smw box was the near so i used it :D) oh and you can use a better ruler if you want ( for example a triangle ruler )
And you do this for all sides  of course when you print you add space for the stuff to be hold / glued together

Thanks for the answer, I have measured the box, so X x Y x Z = 127 x 138 x 23 mm.
To understand what I'm searching for - I want the template that can be printed and folded exactly as the original box. With all the extra bits that are glued together and parts that fold one into another. Every time I create something, it simply won't fit together into a perfect shaped box I imagined.

If you want you can give me the dimensions and i can make you a PSD (Photoshop) template ( or xcf if you prefer to use GIMP as it is free)
I can even clear the image (for example now i am working on TENNIS  i am fixing colors and stuff )

Thank you so much!

One last question,  i want to know if it is in the same size of the original box, because when i opened in photoshop is says:

width: 8,267
height: 9,563

21cm ancho
24,29cm alto  (I noticed that the name of the file was in spanish)

so, can i print it in an A4 size paper?

Regards from Chile.

Anything with flat colour and type will always print better in vector.  Get the PSD and AI work then compile is ID for best results.

I have a better template :) If you want it . But first you must promise that you will use it only for personal use and not for making boxes and selling them.

Computer says "no".

Seriously though, seeing topics like this scare me, and I really hope that the template isn't freely given out, especially to users with no few feedbacks and low post counts.

To those of us who collect boxed Famicom games (especially those collecting the ueber rare pirate boxes), it just seems very scary, knowing that at some point, one will start making "repros" for cash.  People will always swear that it won't happen, but eventually it will.

Try googling Gamescanner - he has some template scans you could use.

I've attached a preview of a template I'm making with the dimensions jpx72 provided at the beggining of the thread.
But I'm looking for the dimensions of these kind of boxes:
I just need the measurements, not scans.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

I can't because I don't have that - but I would recommend NintANDbox for these things.
They don't have a Super Mario 1 Famicom, but Dr. Mario is I think the same size:
http://www.nintandbox.net/index.php/en/nintendo-boxes-project/NES-Famicom/Dr-Mario/

And lots of polished Famicom scans here:
