Nice Haul there, Ugly Joe (some of those carts look familiar).  Crazy Climber with the climber sticks is really great.

I picked this up the other day:

Arkanoid II CIB with the black and red Vaus controller.  Its a really good one.

Too many good finds lately made me jealous so I had to hoof it down to my local Hard-Off for a pretty sweet LOAD

Double Dragon III complete (even has the matching survey and plastic bag), Super Mario Bros. 3, Hoshi no Kirby, Star Force, Dr. Mario, Majou Densetsu II: Dai Ma Shikyou Galious, Star Luster, A Week of Garfield, Galaxian, Excitebike, Famicom Jump: Hero Retsuden, Ganbare Goemon Gaiden 2, and then the SUPERFIND, a (rather beat-up but perfectly working) Game Boy Light!  This is the first I've ever seen one in person.  And I picked up Kirby's Dream Land, Donkey Kong, and Wario Land for that.

Indiglo backlight!

Grand total for all these goodies?  2800 yen!  Alarmingly, Double Dragon III was the most expensive at 630 yen, while the Game Boy Light was a delightful 420, with the other games all 105 except I think Mario 3 was 210.

Dear Hard-Off, I love you.

And lobdale, that's one incredible price for that GBLight! Those can be real expensive, but you already know that

Nice finds, lobdale!
Do you also hate those Hardoff price stickers? They're so hard to get off.

Yeah they are a serious pain in the ass.  I just get out the cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol and do my best on the goop left behind.

Oh my god, don`t get me started on those Hard Off stickers, I HATE those!

Anyway, nice finds there Lobdale!  Garfield is a pretty tough one to find and a really good deal if you got it in a lot for that cheap (I`ve seen that game alone going for more than 2000 yen).  Its a hard game to play and a lot of people hate it, but I quite like it.  DD 3 boxed is pretty sweet too!

Speaking of Hard Off and there stickers you guys should find this thread amusing.

That does make for an interesting read!

Hard Offs are very hit and miss as a source of retro games in my experience.  There are a couple in town here, but only one has retro video game stuff.  Like one of the posters in that thread said, the people there have absolutely no idea what retro game stuff is worth.  They are lucky because at their Hard Off that means they charge low prices for stuff.  At my Hard Off it is usually the opposite - they overcharge for everything in their junk section.  I've seen some of the most common Famicom, Super Famicom and Mega Drive games (baseball, soccer, Mahjong, etc) with 525 yen price tags being the standard.  I did a post denouncing my local Hard Off on my blog about a year ago:

http://famicomblog.blogspot.com/2010/11/fukuoka-famicom-shops-ii-decline-and.html

They are usually a good source for loose consoles (whcih they charge a flat rate of 525 yen each for), but not for games.  I haven't been back since then, maybe I'll pop in some time though just to see if they hired somebody new to do the junk section pricing!

That assemblergames thread is really amusing. But it's all true.

If anybody wonders... I think the "off" in Book-Off and Hard-Off and everything stands for cheap prices (like "XX% OFF the original price" or something like that).

Got this neat little guy in a trade with 8-bitman today. An original Mother cart with a custom-flashed ROM containing the English EarthBound prototype. SMAAAAASH!!

It's such an amazing find that there is super natural light coming out of the screen! ^_^
