I spent the last couple of hours with The Mafat Conspiracy (NES). Sadly, I ran out of continues rather abruptly (it doesn't keep count or let you know they're not infinite). This was shortly after getting the plot twist that the "kidnapped" scientist is actually a leader of the terrorist group. I was pretty close to the end, too. Hopefully I can get through a few of the nasty parts with fewer lives lost on my next attempt and actually finish this one.

Stuck in the pit with the three monkeys in Super Metroid for a while. I was never good at walljumping and I always seems to get stuck down there. After lots of practice I think I finally got it (I have no hope for a good ending anymore though). You have to press the opposite direction of the wall for a split second BEFORE you press the jump button. I can do a walljump about 80% of the time now and I can jump between two walls without too much trouble. I still can't do the one-wall-walljump though, but I'll get there.

I defeated Spore Spawn and Kraid of Brinstar again and then gave Norfair a visit. I defeated the miniboss Crocomire but couldn't enter Ridley's lair because the entrance was submerged under lava. Guess I have to head for the wrecked ship.

Wii U - Rayman Legends, this game is absolutely gorgeous and the gameplay is flawless, if there's one thing I dislike then it's the stages which I have to use the stylus as it breaks all the awesomeness of the game.

Dreamcast - Tech Romancer, I set the difficulty to "Very Easy" and even still I can't manage to defeat the final boss (feels like it didn't change the difficulty by much) plus I had trouble defeating other opponents like what the hell, as a gamer I hate turning down the difficulty but even worse is that I can't win the final stage. So annoying I really want to get pass through it. It's not that I'm a "noob" I've learnt how the game works but the boss is hard as nails.

Mastered the wall jumping technique in Super Metroid! Maridia has lots of sections were you are supposed to climb walls with the grappling beam, but it's much faster to simply single-wall-jump them. Draygon is also no more. Time to head back to Norfair and beat up Ridley for the second time.

The Mafat Conspiracy (NES) is a serious pain in the ass. I just spent the last hour-plus trying that sequence after you confront the evil doctor. You have to do that really aggravating platforming section, including the two jumps that are pixel-perfect. Then you have to tediously backtrack through the last two mazes and side-scrolling levels before it. Then you have to try to snipe the doctor, and the sniping is so much harder than it is in the first game. You miss one shot at the doctor, game over, and it's right back to the beginning of that sequence.

Who's beaten this before? Where is the best spot to aim for on the doctor? And do you lead your shot out in front of where he's moving?

Decided to start a new game plus on Persona 3 FES. It's been long enough.
I'll probably die surrounded by plastic crap.

Moero TwinBee (FDS), can't get past level 3, shoes are now my mortal enemy.

I'm getting close to beating Big Nose the Caveman (NES), but not quite there yet. I put in a little more practice tonight, but didn't get quite as far as I did yesterday. (But the second world is getting easy, and the third world is becoming familiar. That's not bad, considering the game only has four worlds.)

Playing the Japanese version of NES Trojan.

Damn, this is a hard game. I played for a bit today and could only get to the third level, stage 2.  Got to the bottom of the lifts with a single health left.

I only lost one life all the way up until 3-2, but that gauntlet of rolling bombs and projectile tossing enemies did me in.. then the doppleganger at the bottom finished me off in one hit.  OUCH!

Going to take some serious practice to even get past 3-2... Unless there's some kind of continue button combo I don't know about.  A lot of these older games had it.   :mario:

The Simpsons (Konami arcade beat 'em up)

I went out to dinner tonight, and we had the girlfriend's kid brother along. They had a MAME on freeplay in the restaurant, so I kept him busy until our dinner showed up by playing through the game in co-op mode. This has always been the game I most regretted not getting a home console version of, and tonight was the first time I actually saw it all the way to the end. Sure, it's repetitive, but the animation is very clever and funny. I wish somebody could homebrew port it to an 8- or 16-bit console. (I'd settle for graphics downgrades in an 8-bit version, but a 2P version of it could probably play pretty close on an SNES I would think...)

I started a game of Little Ninja Brothers (NES) today. This will probably keep me busy for a little while.

This is one of those extremely nostalgic NES games for me. I used to play it with my best friend when we were about 8 years old. I did manage to do another co-op playthrough last year and finally finished the game. :D

Has anyone had experience with Super Chinese 3? :-\

I played through a few levels of Pop N Twinbee - such a glorius game and one I've had a lot of fond memories with.

Jumped into Kuru Kuru Kururin a few minutes ago here at work. I keep a GB Micro on my desk in case of downtime!
