Had my first tastes of Batman: The Video Game (Genesis) and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts (SNES) today. I enjoyed the former quite a bit, and the latter is at least a much better port than the NES one.

I think super ghouls n ghosts is not a port, it was never an arcade game.

I played Kirby's Dreamland 3, Ganbare Daiku no Gen-san and Tiny Toon Adventures (super famicom)

I picked up a copy of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (SNES) the other day, and had my first taste of it. It's a pretty solid beat 'em up. Fairly difficult, too. I failed to reach the end of the first stage on two credits.

I'm glad to hear you gave this one a play, it's a favorite of mine. In fact it's one of just two SNES carts I own (the other being Run Saber), really wish both of those had SFC releases. It gets a lot easier, trust me, first time I cleared it I was on my last credit, last life, then second play was a 1CC.
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

I think the Genesis version might be a better, smoother game based on my limited experience with both. But I do enjoy them both.

Tonight I had a friend over, and screwed around with several NES games: Galaga (one of his favorites), CastleVania (game froze on Dracula's stage... boo!), Kid Icarus, Wizards & Warriors, and Home Alone.

I just started playing it also, I really suck got to the first boss and failed terribly I'll keep at it and learn some start shots but so far really enjoying the game

Just played some Final Fantasy VI, because it's been 20 years since I did (IMO) a great feat! Excuse the poor handwriting, it's gotten worse over the years :P If you've played it, you will know that the enemy/boss Chupon/Typhoon usually sneezes when you start a battle with him in the coliseum. One time he didn't and I defeated him!

P

Congratulations! :) I've never beaten him.

How did you defeat him in one turn though? Did you have offering and genji gloves?

DDCecil

Yeah, I was Edgar and had both those accessories, but can't remember what else I had equipped. Atma Weapon at full power for sure, though!

Supposedly Shadow has a weapon that can stop him, but that never occurred to me!

Shanghai, NES Open Tournament Golf and Magical Taruruuto-kun, all on Famicom

Shanghai is a good game but hard, kind of strains my eyes. And the game doesn't tell me automatically when there are no free tiles which all other versions I've played does.

NES Open Tournament Golf is my favorite retro golf game, only problem is I suck at it, I don't know how to get good shots in, it just doesn't happen.

Magical Taruruuto-kun I had high hopes for but I don't like it at all. One hit kills... well I can basically stop there. I didn't like it. And after seeing a gameplay video of it where some guy said he thought it was better than Mario 3, this was a letdown.

I think you'd like the Mega Drive edition of Taruruuto-Kun a lot more.

My biggest problem with both Magical Taruruuto-kun FC games is that there is no way to skip the speech before a level, and after losing a bunch of lives, it gets old fast. Talk faster, dammit!
