Wolfenstein 3D (XBLA) - Completed the first episode and was shocked at how much more difficult the first boss was compared to all the ports 
Doom (XBLA) - played through part of the first episode on Hurt me plenty, trying to get an acheivement.

Super Metroid - I just went through the ancient ruins area of Norfair (the place that has the same music as Magmoor Caverns in Prime), & I'm amazed that I did that all in one sitting!

That place was tough!  Several times I was at my last block of health:  I was almost drowned/melted in lava, killed by Ridley, melted in more lava, crushed by a rock, then I found the way out & wouldn't stop until I was out of there & found a save point.

I would've been screwed if it weren't for that energy tank hidden down there.
