Nanjing Pokemon Yellow(s) not holding save data

I have two copies of Pokemon Yellow from Nanjing. They shipped without batteries in them. So, I filled the empty sockets with new batteries, yet saves are lost almost immediately after cutting power. Resetting and loading always works. I can occasionally get saves to load if I cut the power for a very short time. However, for the most part, I lose the saves once power is cut.

Can these be fixed?

did you see if there is corrosion or debris that is interrupting the contact between the battery and circuit board contact? or maybe the socket is loose causing a poor connection between battery and board. the game holds save for a very small amount of time (a few seconds tops) w.out proper connection to a CR2025(orCR2032) so,i would try that first and see if that works.
I am a big Nintendo fan! especially GameBoy, N64, SFC, GC. And of course Mario games
I collect SFC/N64 mainly. Some rare famicom stuff too. Also miscellaneous video game stuff.
