Hi :)
I wonder why there is an battery in Everdrive and not in Powerpack ? ???

P

From what I've heard the Powerpak requires you to reset in order to keep the save. Resetting back to the firmware gives it a chance to copy the save to the CF-card from the 32 kB save RAM while power is still on.

The Everdrive works just like a real cartridge with battery-backed save RAM. It keeps the save in the 32 kB save RAM at all times even when power is off. It only copies the save data to the SD-card when you load another game that doesn't match the data in the save RAM in order to make room for the new game's save data (even if the newly loaded game doesn't even use any cartridge RAM).

If I have been playing the same game (that saves) for several playing sessions (like an RPG), I sometimes load up another game so that all my progress gets backed up to the SD-card once in a while.

Good tip there P on the game-switching.  Losing progress in an RPG can be frustrating at the best of times.
