After years of procrastination, I finally ordered a RAM Adapter and fdsstick.
I've been getting a folder together of the whole FDS library, but I have a question about file names.

Does the file browser on the fdsstick scroll individual game titles?  Or is it hard locked to show a certain number of characters?

loopy

If you mean scroll horizontally, no. It shows whatever fits on one screen (30 characters or so).

Thanks Loopy!  That's exactly what I needed to know, will start shrinking down my filenames a bit.

I'm thinking about getting an FDSStick for several reasons, but how do I get an FDSStick working on a Twin Famicom?
Can't find the FDSLoadr PC program? Get it here. It took me way too long to find.

The fdsstick site spells it out pretty well, I think? On the bottom half of the page. Is there some part of it you don't understand?

Is there any documentation on how to interface with an FDSStick? I'd like to write a client application for Unix systems (mostly Linux).

I don't think so. You'll have to contact Loopy and ask.

Hi, I'd like to buy an FDSStick for my Famicom Twin. I've checked and my disk board has the 7201 chip, but I don't know if there is a power board modification needed like in the regular FDS accesory to read/write disks. Does anyone know anything about that?

Thanks

P

It's needed if you want to overwrite disks even with the FDSStick. It's not needed for playing games or for dumping disk images. The write-protection in the disk drive only prevents it from writing entire disks, not from any kind of reading or from writing to a single file (saving in a game).
