FDS Disk Card Holder Issues

Hey, my FDS has started acting up a bit.  I noticed it initially when saving in Section Z, but has gotten a bit worse over time.

I opened up the FDS and watched it as it tried to save/load.  What appears to be happening is the the card holder (the black part that receives the disk) does not descend all of the way when a disk is inserted.  If I press down on the card holder it will go down a bit more and the errors go away.  Is there some adjustment I can make that will cause the disk holder to descend properly?

I put up a short video demonstrating the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8q9HOl35IA

I would clean and grease all of the posts with some thin white lithium, and maybe hit up your local hardware store for some matching tray springs.

I agree. Look at the moving parts and look for that orange snot that's on the rails as well as the side near those little springs that are a pain in the butt to take off. In fact, you should take off those 3 springs so you can get better access to inside. Clean off the old snot/earwax with WD-40 and then lubricate with 3-in-1 oil.

3-1 is bad for metal to plastic, as it doesn't stick to anything.  Thin white lithium is the way to go as it'll for the most part stay in place.

Thanks for the advice, guys ;D

I cleaned off the gunk and lubricated the four rails.  Didn't work (but didn't hurt anything).

It was this post in the corner that was getting stuck.  Cleaned and lubricated that one and now the card holder drops right into place.

Yes. Usually the snot is to blame for parts not moving correctly. That goop is so old that it solidifies and prevents smooth movement.
