Hey there!

I wonder how to connect my Twin Famicom to power without frying it :)

The power grid over here is 230 V ±23 V, 50 Hz (European)

I've gotten two answers so far:

1: Just buy a wall wart that spits out regulated 7.6V (or even 7.5V) and at least 1250mA - that's easy and cheap!
2: Buy a power converter that converts the 230V from the power grid to the japanese 110V and connect an original (or at least japanese) power supply.

What do you guys think? I'm puzzled.

If a wall wart is rated for 230V AC input and ~7.5V DC output it will work and be safe. I actually run mine with a 9V DC wall wart and i've never had an issue. Make sure your 7805 Voltage Regulator is Heat Sinked and you will be fine.

EDIT: yeah just make sure the Current Rating is ~1200-1300mA. The Famicom draws 900mA Max with connected peripherals such as the 3D System and the Disk System draws about 350 mA Max.

When fixing up a famicom, I actually found mine idled around 370mA-450mA with Salamander in or with my Disk System attached. Conclusion, 9V 1200mA is enough for a stock Twin Fami

This also makes for good news for people with a FC and FDS, I got a 9v 1200mA supply and ran an extra barrel connector in Parallel. Works a treat and I only need one cable!

Thanks a ton! I'll pick up a regular wall wart at the local store.  ;D

Also make sure the barrel plug is centre positive and has an inner diameter of 5.5 mm and outer diameter of 2.5 mm (according to the power FAQ) or it might not fit.

Ah, thanks for the measurements! I'll buy a barrel plug and solder it to the wall wart. Thanks again, great community  ;D

You might be able to get ones with interchangeable plugs at an electronics store. This is most likely your best bet as you can ensure that it is centre negative. Wire positive to the outer casing, and ground to the center pin.

I'll most probably pick up a power supply for the camera "AC-PW10AM" by sony.  It's rated 7.6V at 3A, but the plug is kinda proprietary. I'll solder another one to it, no problem.

Are you sure about the wiring?

This thread says it's centre pin positive (-)------------(o------------(+)  :-X

Gonna have a look at the console's back to make sure how it's wired. The Twin Famicom just left the local customs.

definitely centre pin positive.

good spot! I forgot the Twin was centre positive
