Hi again!

I made a DB15 connector for the FC sitting on my workbench, and have rerouted the P1 controller through it for a project. Is it possible to route the MIC output of Controller II through Pin 2 of the DB15 connector? The input is labed SIN and routes to the same chip as the mic input, so I'm guessing that with a few extra components on the connector should allow me a comparable input. Has anyone tried this before?

I just got Controller II working through the DB-15 connector, but Pin 2 didn't output sound like the mic pin usually does. Anyone know if MIC can be rerouted through the front connector?

Did you try it on a New Famicom? The $4016 D2 isn't handled on New Famicom, so you need to add some extra logic besides a microphone at least. This is the sole reason why I don't like the New Famicom very much.

All other Famicom models should have the microphone logic though. Even the fron loader NES has it, and D2 is connected on its expansion port.

This is on a standard Red/White Rev 05 Famicom. I'm rerouting the controllers for an experiment, going to try wireless and the DB15 connector is considerably more accessible for input. I have the controllers' data lines rerouted and working but I'd love to have full functionality for testing to prevent having to open/close the case repetitively. What is the purpose of the SIN pin anyway?

It is the audio output from the Famicom's sound channels, and it does not include expansion audio.  Some peripheral may have used it, but according to the schematics published online, the Family Keyboard and hence Family BASIC Data Recorder do not.

In short, you cannot use the expansion port for microphone input, either as data or just to mix it in with the Famicom's audio.

Thanks! I'll have to reroute the internal connector.
