I'm wondering if anyone is familiar enough with the SNES / SFC to recommend some really good 'realistic' (not F1 sims) racers?
I'm not talking about the 'cartoonier' titles like Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, Rock 'N' Roll Racing - more like Top Gear.
I've been playing Suzuka 8 Hours as I saw it laying around, and it's actually starting to grow on me...
But I wish I could find something more like this, (with cars), that comes recommended.
Hoping some connoisseurs (Ghegs??) can help with some suggestions!
Top Gear would be one except I already know about it etc.
I've heard Shutokou Battle 2 isn't bad either.

Hmm...realistic but not F1? Cutting out F1 games is already throwing half of the system's racing library out  ;D Maybe something like GT Racing or Super Drift Out?

I'd suggest watching this video that has gameplay footage of all the system's racers and going from there.

I used to think this game was called Suzuki 8 hours. Y'know... because bikes. :diskkun: I did love the day/night cycle.

Damnit, Ghegs! [ END THREAD / LOCK / STICKY ] :P

I was going to recommend Off-Road, but I realized I didn't really like the SNES version as much as the NES. I never did play Baja though, but it looks beautiful for SNES. Both are in that video before Suzuka 8 hours.

Not SNES, but I've been really interested in Manx TT Superbike recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgE-0-CPYXE But it's only available for arcade, Saturn, and Windows 95.

Yes big thanks for that video Ghegs - a great place to start and an easy way to see what's worth looking for and what to bypass.  even tells you which were on SFC and which not.

Basically, what I am looking for are car and bikes games that offer a more realism-orientated gameplay engine, but are still good or decent as an actual 16-bit play-through today...

So I decided to pick up:

- Aguri Suzuki F1 (make an exception for this one, it looks more arcadey than simmy)
- Kat's Run (chibi but still features real cars like the supreme AZ-1)
- Rider's Spirits
- Drift King 2
- Exhaust Heat 2
- Full Power
- Jaleco Rally
- GT Racing (it has the Alpha 155 Touring Car)
- GP-1
- Nigel Mansell Indy Car

So that's ten what look like great racing titles to play with.
