Okay, so I'm slowly getting through the famicom DVD I won on ebay. There's a section on there called "famicom house" which is pretty much an interview with two collectors of Famicom stuff. They show mostly controllers (they actually make the guy open up his SHRINKWRAPPED, UNOPENED japanese power glove in the box, I couldn't believe it) but one unique item that I've never seen before were "Famicom Glasses". Not the 3D glasses, but actual eyeglasses, they have a mario icon on one of the lenses and came in a yellow box. The lenses were kind of tinted pink...has anyone ever seen these before??? They came with a case and a cloth, all with official nintendo logos on them, so this was an official item released by Nintendo.

Found a pair (along with a pouch/lens cloth) on YHJ. Link

Wow! Those are awesome...if you're stuck in the 80s. I wonder if they could cut lenses to fit those things.

The Virtual Boy had special glasses too, except they weren't as cool or big as these :D

If you got new lenses, you'd lose the little Mario  :-\ Too bad there's nothing really "Famicom" about the frames themselves.

manuel

That would make a cool and nerdy collectible. :D

If they're not prescription, I guess you could just wear contacts.

This=no.  I have more interest in Action 52 than in video-game eyeglasses.

...So why even comment? You're really not adding to the discussion :|

Anyway, these actually look really neat, but they are definitely for the hardcore collector and nothing more =P

It's relevant.  I'm stating my opinion.

... It's completely irrelevant.

I'd almost get those just for the pouch/cloth, I have prescribed (?) lenses.  My eyesight is horrible.  But, it'd be pretty cool to have my glasses in that bitchin' case when I go to the pool :P

I don't have a prescription, but I would probably get them if I found a good deal for them.
