Someone posted about these cool ass Dynacom carts with sensors that allow you to interact with the game, like the PowerGlove, perhaps better -- let's hope. Check them out: HERE.

I really need to register at nintendoage, because I can never see the stuff you guys link to. :-[

OMG those things are awesome and seem to work quite well (according to the linked videos). I'd love to know how the spatial triangulation is done.

I like that ping pong racket with the sensor.
I wonder how good that works.

Having said that I haven't played ping pong in how many years now? 5? 10? I can't really remember. :-\

There's no way this could be complicated. It's probably infrared seeing that the senors have to have holes in the cart. The paddles have infrared lights and the carts have infrared receivers. Either it's super simple (the game uses different brightnesses of the infrared light to decide it the paddle's been swung), or it's slightly more complicated (sends a signal when it's shaken).

When he swings the paddles, he always has the one side face the tv. Notice that it's also the exact same movement that seems to work in boxing. There's certainly no triangulation going on. With the soccer one, the ball bounces from the left and goes toward the goal when kicked. I think the movements of the ball are all pre-programmed. The timing of the kick determines the predetermined angle of the ball and all that stuff.

They're now on eBay...maybe some techie will get a chance to play around with them.

Cool. I have my contacts down in S. America searching for more. We'll see... Congrats. I'd love to hear more about them. The video made it look like like the sensors don't work very well.

Considering how old these are, I thought they looked pretty decent.  I just thought they were a pretty neat little piece of Nintendo history.  Maybe some big wig at Nintendo saw these and this is what sparked the idea for the Wii? ;)

I think Nintendo always wanted a Wii -- PowerGlove, Inflatable Exciting Boxing, Light Guns, etc. It was just a matter of time for them to perfect the sensors.
