Anyone know the heli controls for Bad Company 1 multiplayer mode (PS3)?

i totally dominate with the helicopter in single player mode...but when i play online the controls switch and all i can do well is crash it.  there is nothing in the instructions (big surprise) and googleing it just gets me results for BC2.

Why would the controls change just because you're playing multiplayer?
