gameshark for N64 not working. i need help.

i got a gameshark for the nintendo 64 at my local play n trade and when i turn the actual N64 the light on it and the gameshark light up, however my TV says no signal and i know everything is connected properly, and yes i cleaned the pin connectors, can somebody help me please?

Does the N64 show a picture with any other cartridge?  If it's just the game shark, you may want to clean the dirty contacts even harder than you already did. If that doesn't work, maybe it's just defective?

Although, since your TV says no signal, it's probably an issue with the cable. Have you tried another nintendo brand composite cable? There also may be cold solder inside the console. Please give us more info.

Actually, my N64 GameShark has done this too.  Sometimes it just fails to boot, so even though the N64 is on, there still won't be a picture, because it's like turning on the N64 with nothing in it.  Mine has about an 80% rate of booting successfully, so it may just be that your GameShark is defective if it does that 100% of the time.  I would try a different console if you can though.
