How to locate someone

I have a friend who was kicked out of his house last August. I didn't know about it until 2 months ago and the last time I spoke to him was in August as well. He doesn't have a cell phone or anything and doesn't have any active online status. None of my other friends were contacted by him either and none know where he's at.

Could someone please tell me if there's any way I can find out his whereabouts? Any official or city worker I can talk to in order to find out if he's living anywhere within the city or something? In the Montreal area.

BTW, this wasn't like him to get kicked out of home. But it happened because he dropped out of college. One day, he's totally excited and pumped and primed about going to college; the very next day, he just drops out.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing you can do about it. I don't know how it is in your country, but usually city officials (and similar) can't just tell you where somebody lives.

Have you tried contacting his parents?

mgman

Yes, I have tried contacting his parents. They don't seem to care where he's off to.

manuel

That's some "parents" there...  ::)
You should try to contact as many of his friends as you can. Somebody has to know something.  :-\

Sounds like some "family issue" going on there. Hope your friend is okay.

Yeah, actually it doesn't surprise me that the parents can be like this. I hate pointing out stand-up comedians and such who make jokes about these kinds of stereotypes. But I can't help it if it's true in several cases I see. This is USA-Canada I'm talking about. Now, I'm not native to these countries. But I've seen too many cases like this in the relationship between parents and kid(s). I'm talking about "care" like giving total freedom to their kids when they're 10 years old. Like letting their kids out for however long they want. Like you don't see it on TV and the movies because of what's always in the TV and movies. I think I see this mostly in the US, but still.

I'm thinking he got in a bad way with a wrong crowd in college.

The problem is that he hung out almost always with one crew. So not many people would know where he is.
