I asked an admin about which section was appropriate for this topic, and I was told that B/S/'T is the closest match, as I anticipated, so here goes:

I am looking fr a helper; somebody to assist with working on my catalogue over time; someone who's a video game collector would be preferred.

This is a position that can be either paid in trade, or paid in part trade and part cash. The requisite requirements will be to go through the catalogue, and add names, (at least minimal) descriptions and search tags to the entries therein. The compensation is discussable, based either on time or per entry.

If anybody is interested, please let me know. I'm not sure if this sort of thing would be attractive to anybody here, but I figured I'd suggest it, as it's nearly impossible to find decent help elsewhere, especially for imported items. No pressure, but many thanks!

I'm a videogame collector, but your line of inquiry was extremely vague. Do you want people to help you work on a game? Do you want someone to help you acquire games, donor carts, or make you custom carts? I might be willing to help if you want someone to help you work on a game since I need some cash.

Bramsworth

If I understand correctly, you're making a database of games and want someone to add more games plus more details for each game? Is it a whole database of the Famicom library?

Ah sorry to poke
but what's wrong with http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777/ ?
Maybe you can work tohether with bootgod to add more info to each entry...

manuel

I think he wants his own database with many different kinds of info like shape/color/type of the box etc.

Kiddo

If what manuel said is what you are referring to then I'm definetly interested in helping out. Feel free to send me a PM with more details or just post them right here.

My apologies for any confusion.. I think this is getting mixed up with my previously expressed desire on generated a better FC database for the public. I do still plan to do that, and I have done a fair bit of work on it, but this is not the same topic...

This is a commercial position for working on my web catalogue (store inventory); it includes import classic games and hardware, plus all classic domestic systems (through 1996 or so) and vintage electronics going way back.

I did try to define the position, but apparently failed: The requisite requirements will be to go through the catalogue, and add names, (at least minimal) descriptions and search tags to the entries therein. The compensation is discussable, based either on time or per entry.

Allow me to expand on that: In my on-line catalogue, I have numerous entries that are (at present) images only. They all need names, short and long descriptions, and search tags, all of which follow a standard format. Some of the stuff is easy-peasy some is harder; usually, I will take care of the harder/questionable stuff.

As I mentioned I'm not looking for free help: This is a compensated position, and compensation is to be negotiated. Therefore, I'm looking for a collector, or someone collector-minded, as some of this is going to require learning the correct terminology and may possibly lead into a position of a neutral-party grader, following a laid-down set of grading standards for the inventory.

I prefer to work with someone that knows the Famicom library (games and HW), as that will make the job easier; not all of the inventory is import, and I' adding new stuff all the time. The primary reason to do this is so that I don't need to divide my time four ways. I'm already taking photos to U/L, and adding them to the correct categories, plus working on dev projects, plus working with customers, and that's just for this one business. I really want someone that can take the job of filling in all the blanks int he catalogue and make it more presentable, even if I have to go through and polish it up later (although hopefully I won't need to do that). You won't have to add prices, just the game or object title, description, and search tags. If you turn out to be good at grading, then that's be great too.

As to doing  database for the public, I'm still working on that. I'm also working on the FC and Nintendo sections of the upcoming edition of a book on collecting classic games, so I' just trying to mitigate some of the time that I don't have to spend at present to make the catalogue nicer for people viewing it.

Unfortunately, due to my agreement with Mr. Griner, I can't hand over the database from his book to the public, but I will be putting one out eventually that includes things that aren't often available, as Manuel said, like cart colour, rarity, value (spread: Hi, Mid, low)  part number, variations.

The problem is that I need to be able to keep up with everything, and the catalogue is a priority, so if I have a helper working with me on it, everything else will go a lot faster, I'll be able to make more sales to the GP, and thus have more cash-flow to put into other projects. I don't mind spreading money around, and I am also happy to work out continual mixed pay (cash and items) as I especially have plenty of the latter a this time. Pay items may also include things from my private collection, depending on performance.

I hope this clarifies what I'm seeking. For those interested in helping with a public database, I.ll let you know once I have one that is constructed well-enough to make available to supplement. The sooner I get done with the stuff that I need to do, the sooner I can work on the projects that I want to do.

Again, this is a compensated position; anybody interested, please PM. Thank you for all of your input. :)

No, it's nothing like that mate. I've just had some hellish times and I've been struggling to catch up with everything, hence this thread. I haven't even had a ghost of a chance to photograph the stuff on your want-list yet, and I didn't want to promise anything because it'd have been unreasonably delayed.

I still roughly 1,500 carts to photograph alone, and around 1,000 disks, all in the next week or so. Once that and the documentation photos are done, I can shift back to the promo stuff, which takes a lot more time to add to the catalogue. I've not forgotten and I'm *almost* caught up, working 80-hour to 120--hour weeks. I pulled a 22-hour shift today alone...

This is why it's best to reach me via phone. 260-FDS-DISK. :)

Nevertheless, I'll let you know when I have everything lined up for you. ...  :bomb:
