Hi, im new to the famicom disk system, i just purchased one from a value village here in Canada, and it appears to not read disks!  Im attempting to take it apart and see if its the belt..  I dont know if i should feel stupid asking this, but upon a search i cae up with nothing..  How do you remove the famicom from the disk system?  it seems to snap together and hold onto the bottom on the controller slots, but has not obvious button to help lossen it! also whoever put it together did it wrong and went over the rubber feet, causing it to bend, so maybe this is part of the problem? either way i dont wanna break it, so i thought i would ask first..  Any help would be great!  Thanks!

The Famicom shouldn't be stuck to it unless you've got one of those Hudson Racks or something. My bet is that the rubber feet have decayed into a gooey mess causing the systems to be stuck together. In that case just pry them apart and replace the rotten rubber feet later. Hope it helps!

This isnt the same one, but very similar! It has no brand name..  so this didnt come standard with the system?  It appears someone has already tried to pry it, so im not the only one with the problem..  Either i try more force, or resort to a dremel then! im sure they will look nicer apart anyway..

If it is about the rubber feet decaying, you could try to spray some cleaning fluid in between the units and then poke at it with a screwdriver or something.

Zippo fluid or WD-40 may help and won't damage the plastic if you clean them off (with isopropyl alcohol). :bomb: The Hudson rack is not a cheap commodity these days, so be careful not to damage that!. :bomb:

doesnt the hudson rack break down anyway?

The Hudson rack looks awesome. I'm hoping to find one too one day.

well i eventually just pryed it off, took a bit, but i didnt break it! im guessing it was put on backwards, dont think i will use it again though.. and not to my surprise, the belt has degraded to a sticky mush, so i will have to replace it! hoping the 30 disks it came with work, and i can eventually get a mod done for writing them..  thanks for the help!
