sync strike issues (RGB cables)

I tried listening to the audio using headphones in the port on the front and I got the same audio distortion and the rf port didn't work at all. I just think the genesis I bought is a piece of crap.

Did you look at the first link in my post it should tell you what revision you have but you're right there Some Geny's with horrible sound usually you can pick up a replacement on the cheap but look at that link so you make sure you get a decent one next time

NTSC SNES has a raw sync pin. PAL SNES does not.

Same situation as the Saturn and Gamecube.
