Hey Guys

I have a 7201 FDS chip that I pulled out of a disk drive system.  The white gear had snapped in half so the system wasn't usable.  I wanted to know if this is something you could replace with a later model FDS to get around the copy protection.  If anyone wants to try it out and get back to me you can have it for $10 including airmail shipping.  If anyone knows a reason as to why just swapping this part wouldn't work, let me know as well.

This should work fine, but I do have a 3206 I can swap the board on and try writing disks.  I know the power boards differed between FDS models, so it's likely that the motor speed would require adjusting after the swap.  This can either be done manually or using a game doctor + copymaster in order to tune the speed properly.

Don't forget to mod the power board on the drive that get's the new 7201 drive controller board.

Japan-Games  you should sell the power board on the 7201 that's worth something too.

Yea--in my experience, most 7201 drive's power boards need to be modded as well.  If you have a 3206 you definitely need to mod it, if you have a 7201 you may or may not have to mod it.
