So, I have been following this one tutorial for a famicom AV mod

I am following this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwKXFeKimGE

It says I need a 2SC1815 or a 2N3704 transistor. The big problem is that these capacitators are discontinued in most stores I checked. Except for this store on the other side of the pond, but they charge 30 dollars for shipping.

Anyone know where to get these transistors in europe?  :help:

Pikkon

Just use the transistor inside the famicom.

Wait, I dont think I understand now? Wouldn't i fuck the famicom up pretty badly if i would take a transistor from one part and put it somewhere else?

You would just sacrifice your RF if you removed it.

The important thing is that you use a transistor with the correct polarity. 2SC1815 and 2N3704 are both NPN so for that mod you can only use NPN and not PNP. The transistor in the Famicom that Pikkon is talking about is PNP so you can't use it for that tutorial.

You can use the transistor in the Famicom if you follow the mod in the sticky on this forum and it's recommended to get rid of jail bars. But using it sacrifices RF.

I dont quite understand the tutorial at the top of the forum. I dont find it very instructive at all. I have a really difficult following it.

ANY GENERAL n-p-n LOW POWER SILICON TRANSISTOR WILL DO THIS USELESS MOD.
I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

You act like I am supposed to be some electronics expert. I have no idea what will do well here, I dont wanna fry my famicom, but ya'll be be sure

I found this tutorial, it seems much more useful with pictures and schematics

but one thing I dont understand, how do I identify which PPU-pin is which, this does not seem to be marked on the inside of the fami

Just google for PPU pinout and get something like this http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/PPU_pin_out_and_signal_description. The chip's upper end should be marked with a small indentation.
