Hello everybody...

In an earlier post (here --> http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=10077.msg141182#msg141182) I've described my Famicom setup. It seems to be working fine.

Some Carts aren't loading but it seems to be due to dust and/or rusty connectors... I'll clean them up with some rubbing alcohol as suggested.

I'm from Europe (Portugal to be more specific) and my Famicom was given to me 21 years ago and what has been troubling me the most is that now I'm unable to get good reception on the TV. When I had a regular CRT, I would only have to manually tune in my tv until I could find the apropriate frequency for the FamiCom.

Now with Flatscreen TVs I don't seem to be able to find the chanel... Can someone please give any advice/suggestion?

I've been reading some threads here, but all talk about switches etc... My FamiCom doesn't have a switch...

Check out the Famicom

Here is the cable

Thank you very much!

Use the composite output instead of RF.

Also, that is not a Famicom. That's a Dendy Junior II. This is why you have no switch.

Well that's strange...

The console actually says "Family Computer".... here's the pic

I'll try the combo then....

Thank you for your response  ;D

I never used the AV output....

I guess I'll give it a try

Famiclone makers tells lies sometimes. A Famicom are red and white, have no composite audio/video (unless it's modded) and looks like this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/72/Famicom-Console-Set.jpg. It's a beautifull Famiclone though.

It sure looks like it...

Just so you get the picture, my parents bought it for Christmas 21Years ago in an Indian/Pakistani carpet store.

Oh well guess I have to leave this Forum and find a "DenJunWorld.com" forum...  :'(

I'll try the AV output this weekend and give you all some feedback.

This forum has a lot of people with Famiclone knowledge so you actually has come to the right place!

Whatever you do, don't throw it away, these old '90s famiclones were awesome, 99% of them were real hardware clones, so it has at least collector's value. Love these machines!
Btw awesome NES style controllers!

Don't worry... this baby gave me plenty of hours of fun time .... I wouldn't dare throw it in the trash...

And even if I thought about it, I would ask If any of you guys would like to have it...

My children will marvel at this!  ;D

I'll try to fire it up this weekend using the AV combo... I'll post back with the outcome

One cool mod to do on these machines is replacing their CPU and PPU for original NES ones. That improves the audio quality on the games (the clone CPU has some problems with two audio channels inverted, or something like that). Also, if you get jailbars, doing your own video output amplifier improves video quality a lot. I have an old famiclone too and did these mods to it. It plays better now that when it was new :)

Regards.

Don't forget to add copper tape on the PPU, which really cuts down on the jailbars like crazy.

Hey all,

after thoroughly cleaning the cartridges with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol, and connecting to the TV using the A/V output it worked wonderfully!

What joy... =) Guess it just needed a good cleaning.

As for the modding, unless my famiclone completely stops working, I don't intend on doing it... Anytime soon

Thank you.
