Something I just noticed I never really did before......why do Konami Famicom carts have  a hole along their far left side? I actually thought of it for a while but I couldn't come up with any plauseable answer. Do any of you guys know?

i think it attaches to a hole of the opposite shape on the inside to seal the cart.

Ah, so in otherwords, it keeps the cart together? Huh.....effecient. The Japanese make nailless buildings and screwless games! Damn them!

JC

Do any Famicom carts have screws? I haven't seen any. Konami's are the most creative with that little hole, but Nintendo and the rest snap together, instead of using screws. That's what makes them so difficult to take apart, as we' ve chatted about in another thread. But maybe the companies were operating off the idea that these should be like cassette tapes, which don't have screws. They do call Famicom carts "cassettes" in Japan, don't they?

I'd love to see a pic of a Famicom cart with screws. The only screw I've ever seen in a cart I saw by chance today, when Jedi sent me a pic of a converter with a screw holding it together.

Oh sorry JC, I was referring to the fact that Pirates say "Cassette" on them, not that they use screws. I've never seen any Famicom games that use screws either.

JC

No problem, satoshi. This

was meant rhetorically. But I guess that's lost without inflection. I knew they called them cassettes.

The converter with a screw is this one: HERE.
