You are right. い it's a mistake. I don't know japanese, so i didn't see it.
In the game the text is colored like this:
f7 00 - blue
f7 01 - yellow
f7 02 - white

And in my table file: 01=あ  02=い

Usually when a character speaks, his name it's yellow and then the text goes white: f7 02. That's why the error occurred.

and is used in sooooo many japanese games. Most of the
english translations use so kind of evil sounding name
for Maou so I went with "Dark lord")
