Damn I wish there was something similar in English. Would love to read all about the games that came out over there.

I have those 2 books and they're great.
Highly recommended.

The Famicom book is both Japanese/English.

Well, the interviews are in English.  The mini-reviews they have for some of the individual games are classic Engrish.

(also, even though the games' individual entries list the titles in both Japanese and English, the index in the back of the book is Japanese only)

There's enough English to enjoy this book I am sure.

And the cool photos really make up for the English that's not there.  :)

It's for sure the best book about the Famicom out there.  Nearly every Famicom game is pictured, there are page write ups about the best and most influential games, smaller ones for others, and many have none at all.  There are also some great articles and interviews with designers and such including Shigeru. The English is understandable, so it doesn't really make any difference except maybe be even more enjoyable :D you still get all the info.  i highly recommend finding!

Sorry to bump this old thread but I recently obtained a copy of this fantastic book (Family Computer 1983-1994). It's a very interesting read and as others before me I really recommend to pick it up if you find one. One thing I noticed, though: is it possible that the last game released for the famicom (Adventure Island IV) is missing in the book? I couldn't find it....

Ghegs

It's not listed on page 151 along with the other final releases as you'd expect it to be, but that's because it's covered in more detail earlier in page 121.

Hecka-bump! :pow:

Was researching some Shougi games for the games list and came across an error in this book.  It properly has three entries for the Tanigawa Kouji no Shougi Shinan II, but the images show all three of them as being disk system games.  Two of them were disks, and one was a cartridge!

Not really.  There were issues with our game list, so I went researching.  I wouldn't have known any better if the issues weren't pointed out.

Okay, maybe I know some stuff, but I didn't know this :P
