Chrono Trigger crashing after a bad save

I've been playing through Chrono Trigger and had no issues. I got back to 1000AD and saved before entering the festival again then my game crashed. For some reason since then my game has not been able to load any interior spaces. I have wiped my save data and shorted the battery to no avail.

For example:
In my old save i would load my game which would place me on the map. I'd walk to Truce Inn or any other space you can access from the map and when it tried to load the space the screen would go black and the music would stop.

On a new game it would work perfectly until JUST after your mother calls out your name and your room is supposed to load.

Is my cart broken? Should I verify the ROM has the right checksum?

Checksum doesn't really matter. I've made so many repros with wrong checksum and all work great so far.
Most likely a soldering problem there. Any pictures of the board would be nice.

Im just confused, if its a cold solder joint on the TSOP then why was I able to play so much of the game before it prevented me from entering internal spaces

Have tried reflowing the pins and ensuring each pin has a good connection through my magnifier. Have replaced the solder i was using on the jumpers with actual jumper wires. I'm still getting the same thing, game boots up but when you start a game it refuses to load interior rooms and hangs. Your mom calls out to you, you hear Leene's bells and then black screen.

I really think i need to desolder the rom and verify that the data on the chip hasn't gone bad

Sounds like a bad EEPROM or write fail from programmer. Either way, it's weird.

If you're programming the 29F033 with a TL866 programmer I can sell you an adapter board to verify the 29F033 after being soldered on the adapter boards. :)

Ok, i think i found the problem. Desoldered the ROM and found A SINGLE error. Probably a short, may have accidentally bumped the SNES when saving/turning it off.

You're using an older version of MiniPro.
There's already 6.17. Should update. :P
