Lagrange Point audio

Hello everybody,

Apologies if this is a known issue/question, but I have googled hard to see if I can find the answer first...

Anyway, I have an NESRGB modded AV Famicom, and a few original Fami's that have been modded for AV out put (inc the 220μF cap on pin 46), and an original Lagrange Point with the English translation ROM swap, done by me and a friend.

My problem is this-- LP runs fine on the AV Famicom, with correct music/score on the intro etc, but when running it on the original Famicoms (tried two, both AV modded) the music is absent. Just doesn't play. You can hear some of the SFX, like the escalator pulling up to the ship, but no music.

I get the same problem when running the game from an Everdrive cart. Sounds fine on the AV Famicom, but no VRC7 sound on the FC.

Weirdly, the audio from Esper Dream 2 and Akumajou Densetsu is the other way round, sounds incorrect on the AV Fami, but perfect on the original (which I believe is more common)

All other games sound fine.

Can anyone help me get my original Famicoms to play the VRC7 chip tunes?

Any help appreciated.

For the AV Famicom, the expansion audio will sound incorrect as it does not mix correctly. There are some circuits out there to correct this, and Tim Worthington released a circuit on NesDev a while ago that mixes the expansion audio through the NESRGB.

As for your Lagrange Point Issue, I don't see any reason why it would work on one console and not another. I'd suggest cleaning the pins, or checking to make sure the Audio part of the AV mod on the Famicoms is pulled from the correct pin on the cart connector.
