Twin Famicom/Disk System: Spindle Difficult to Turn, Belt Doesn't Spin It?

Hello all,

I am having an issue running disks on my Twin Famicom's disk system, and it is one I have never encountered before.

I have replaced the belt, but the spindle seems difficult to turn when the belt is on, and only about halfway through reading a disk from the original position. The spindle is difficult for me to turn with my fingers, and of course, the belt is even incapable of moving it.

I have tried different bands I have used previously without problems, so I do not think the bands are the issue.
