Just picked up my first Famicom (HVC-CPU-07 board)....Did the AV mod, plugged it in ready to see my glorious work and accidentally plugged in my twin famicom PSU lead instead of my Megadrive as it's a whole bunch of wires around my TV...It lasted about 5 seconds and then there was a pop and smoke and now it's dead. From what I can tell the Voltage Regulator has been burnt to a crisp. I wondered if anyone can send some knowledge my way on how to repair this. Is it a case of just buy a new Voltage Regulator? Or has this possibly gone further and melted more things i don't really understand.

It's quite possible that you just need to swap the regulator, yeah. You won't know until you try.

Fair point. I have one arriving today. Fingers crossed as I'm fully ashamed of myself. Mistake were made. 😞

Eh, everyone makes mistakes. I've made ones much harder to fix.

Thought I'd update the outcome of this.

I did replace the voltage regulator and all was fine.
