Hello everyone,

last year i bought an FDSkey to convert my games and make backups.
Then i bought a bunch of FDS disks from an auction.
As expected some of them didn't work. i tried cleaning the disk and even rewriting them.
My issue here is that most ROM's on the internet (to rewrite the broken disks) are broken or partital corrupted (they work on the FDSkey but they don't work when you try to write them)
I thought of that maybe the disks itself where broken but with other ROM's it works.
I even bought a new copy of Yume Koujo Doki Doki Panic (sadly its also broken/corrupted )  :'(

I think this is my last hope here, so my question is: does someone here have a copy of Donkey Kong, Donkey kong JR,Famicom grand prix,Famicom grand prix II,Family Computer Othello,Hikari shinwa,Ice climber,Ice hockey,Keattika mario bros,Pac man,pinbal,SMB2 and as last Doki Doki panic.

I know it is a lot but otherwise half of the disks i bought don't work  :'(

I hope to hear back from you all.  :-[
Have a nice day ;D
sincerely,   :redcart: Flinn Lute :redcart:

The ROMs on the internet are just fine. As you said yourself, they work, so why are you posing they're corrupted? A corrupted ROM would fail to load even in a drive emulator.

By the sound of it, your FDS is slightly out of calibration.

Plus, are you sure your FDS has the hardware necessary (or modifications necessary) to actually write full disks?

I tested my Disk system, it can write full disks. (I tried to rewrite my Zelda disk)

It's not that it won't copy or write anything. It writes completely writes the disk and then duplifds gives me an "wrong block CRC" error when it's checking the disk.

Then you should look into the alignment.

Or, I guess there is another small possibility of the write protection tabs being taken out, but probably not across all those disks.

I did some testing, every time DupliFDS's screen goes black (while writing) it will give a wrong block CRC error. I just wrote my Zelda disk with Metroid and burble Bible
So it should work.

Maybe some disks are not coppied correctly when making the room.

This is the site i got the ROM's from:

https://archive.org/download/FamicomDiskSystemCurated/Family%20Computer%20Disk%20System/

( I have the original games so it is legal)

What band is installed on the motor? If it's from Console 5 then it's too large. I do not recommend these!

You could check the RPM of the spindle (where the disk sits). It should be at 403RPM at the position closest to "home". It may sag down to 397 at the farthest point from home.

I Don't know specifically which brand the drive belt is from, but i know it isn't from Console 5.

I guess ill check the RPM.  ;D

If the disk images really were corrupt I don't think they would load on real hardware using your FDS Key.
Many dumps has problems with not being factory reset correctly, even some of Nintendo's own dumps from the gigaleak were said to not be factory reset, but they are not corrupt.
