does anyone have one they could sell on ebay or something for a good price Because i cant find one at a good price please let me know if you do

You could actually fit some white LEDs and a diffuser behind the screen with some serious Dremelling. Preferably surface mount LEDs since space inside a Gameboy is a premium.

EL tape seems like a great idea! But AFAIK they work with high voltages, powering them from a Game Boy would be somewhat hard. A GB already has a DC-DC converter which steps up the 3V of the batteries to 5V and some weird-ass negative voltage like -18V for the LCD contrast, but I don't think it could handle the power requirements of a EL backlight properly.

you could do some serious business dremeling and put one of those cr2032 batteries in it.
Or would that be too little/much power?  ???
