Question about the famicom recommended power adaptor

This article says that it is receommended to use the original power adaptor.

Why would that be necessary? 9V DC is 9V DC in any country. I've had no problem with a generic adaptor for my twin fami for example.

Honestly, just make sure you have the right voltage and polarity and it shouldn't be too big of a deal.  While I have quite a handful of official Nintendo adapters, I don't use them unless I'm doing a general test or something.  I do have one of those stepdown converters, but I gave it to a buddy of mine since he has three or four Japanese systems so he just plugged a power strip into it.

The voltage regulator can usually deal with any discrepancies but I don't like to stress components out of their comfort zone.

Exactly, for my Twin I'm using a power supply from some HP scanner or printer (dunno) without any problems.

Like b1aCkDeA7h said, V, A and a polarity are the main things here.
There is also important the diameter of the plug, to fit it pretty tight into the console DC inlet.
