Q: Do you want CIB, partially complete (box and/or manual), or do you just collect carts?

A: Since I don't plan on completing a massive Famicom collection, I am mainly looking for CIB   games. I also am only buy games that are either exceptional or exotic. heh. I don't mind my pirates being loose though; pirate boxes usually suck ass.

Q: Do you have a particular interest in collecting controllers and other accessories?

A: No, not really. If there is an accessory that I want, I'll grab it. I'm not looking to collect all sorts of hardware. Also, I collect accessories as loose; no need to have them CIB imo.

Q: Are any of you trying to get a massive collection, whether or not you plan on playing all of them?

A: No, not for Famicom at least :P.

Q: Is language an obstacle in your journey of collecting?

A: No, there are plenty of ways around the language obstacle. ::)

Q: What's your opinion of pirate carts? (I think this will have a few different answers)

A: I freaking loove teh pirate carts doode! They make life a little bit more fun! :D

Q: What is/are the item(s) you most want to add to your collection?

A: I'm looking to get a few carts and disks, but nothing major. I already have most of what I had wanted from a Famicom collection.

Q: How much does pricing, availability, or frequency of turning up on auction sites affect your purchases?

A: It doesn't. If I want a game, I'll find it. I don't just buy on impulse when I see some game, well, unless it is a remarkable deal on a game that I have thought about purchasing in the past. :)

Q: What purchases do you regret making?

A: I have not ever made a purchase that I regret. You cannot go wrong when buying a video game. Seriously! hahaha.

1. Do you want CIB, partially complete (box and/or manual), or do you just collect carts?
Carts only. Too much to keep track with when you have boxes, not only that. But they really do bring up the price in the things you wanna get, large waste of cash imo.

2. Do you have a particular interest in collecting controllers and other accessories?
Unless they are necessary to place a certain game, no.

3. Are any of you trying to get a massive collection, whether or not you plan on playing all of them?
Im trying to get a decent sized collection of games I know i'll be willing to play and will play on a daily bases. :)

4. Is language an obstacle in your journey of collecting?
Unless they are text heavy RPG's, not really.

5. What's your opinion of pirate carts?
Some are neat, some arent worth the money. Considering they ARE pirates after all. The only reason one should really be putting 40-50 dollars away on a few pirates is because they are really hard to find or are really neat hack jobs nobody has seen before. But even then, blowing 40 bux on a shoddy version of SMW? come on.

6. What is/are the item(s) you most want to add to your collection?
Interesting games/carts. Maybe a few note worthy pirates like the Super Mario Family cart :P

7. How much does pricing, availability, or frequency of turning up on auction sites affect your purchases?
It all really depends on if you are willing to buy something. If you didnt get it the first time, chances are you will see it again. Also when doubles and common carts show up on auction sites and stuff, it always puts me in the "groan zone" because these are games I already own and I wanna at least find something new.

8. What purchases do you regret making?
As of this moment? Probably buying MOTHER without knowing japanese. Bought it even before I got a famicom! Really, REALLY, wanted the game. Only to remember I dont know diddly about japanese =L Ah well. Guides on the internet really helped out.

Figured i'd do this since it's hip and cool with everyone else now B)

Bah,   I can't post in the show stash thread as there is too much and it's all safe and secure in storage.
I can answer these though!

    * Do you want CIB, partially complete (box and/or manual), or do you just collect carts?
I collect mainly CIB but I also like getting odd carts as I have them as spares I give out or use as 'ornaments' :D

    * Do you have a particular interest in collecting controllers and other accessories?
Yes, but mainly just if they're new and unused, scabby old carts are one thing but dirty old joysticks etc are pretty disgusting.

    * Are any of you trying to get a massive collection, whether or not you plan on playing all of them?
I mostly collect new and unused hardware, so that takes up serious space.  I plan to get all the official 1st party products and most of the other bits and bobs I can acquire.  I'll never get it all new and unused (ever seen a new square famicom?!) but I can certainly try.  I have almost all of it, a few main key pieces left.

    * Is language an obstacle in your journey of collecting?
I don't speak or read Japanese, so shipping is a biatch.

    * What's your opinion of pirate carts? (I think this will have a few different answers)
I like pirate carts so long as they're good, or at least interesting.  In my opinion Somari, SMW and all those fighter pirates are unplayable and utter wank.  Sorry.  I like multicarts though, they interest me and save space, it's nice to give them out with a famiclone as a kid's (or adult's!) present.

    * What is/are the item(s) you most want to add to your collection?
What I most want is an ACTUAL disk writer.  I don't expect to see one!

    * How much does pricing, availability, or frequency of turning up on auction sites affect your purchases?
I have no commitments so I have a fair amount to spend on hardware, but shipping and prices at the moment have jumped considerably for me since a year ago, so most of what I see I don't take up.

    * What purchases do you regret making?
Hmm..  I regret buying my new Nes's and a few of the handbills I have just cos they were alot of money.  The way I see it though there's still time to sell and recover if I change my mind maybe.

To be honest, I wonder if all this collecting is really worth it - it costs an arm and a leg, there are countless other on the same 'mission' plus I have to take care of arranging for it all to be stored.  When I think I could put a deposit down on a property, or get a BMW instead it really makes me question the point but I have 90% of all hardware totally new, I figure that's a decent feat so far.  It would be really great to have it all in one big retro museum I think.

Yeah, really.  The things I could buy with the assets... I cringe when I think of having to move & drag everything with me.  That's why I'll stick to laptops. ;)
