Bad info in FW's FDS Power Adapter article

As the article itself says, the original adapter is like this
DC9V 400mA
Then the article goes on saying "The key is the amp rating. Your amp rating has to be at least 850mA." and "The original FDS adapter is DC 10V".

I don't understand??

The article is indeed confusing and, as far as I can tell, incorrect.  I think I know what corrections need to be made (should be 400mA and DC9V throughout), but I want to make sure.  Can someone (or someones) verify this?

Seems that the second part of the article (the one mentioning 10V and 850mA) has been copypasta'd off the Famicom AC adapter one without proofreading it.

DC9V @ 400 mA should be interpreted as a safe minimum. A Famicom AC adapter (DC10V @ 850 mA) would work just fine on a FDS if the barrel plugs weren't different. On the other hand an original Famicom might cause the FDS AC adapter to overheat (which is probably why Nintendo gave them different sized barrel plugs).

I'd like 133 to confirm, but I believe the input voltage for a 7805 voltage regulator (so that it outputs 5V) can be from 7.5 to 20V. It'd be making tons of heat at 20V, though.

I wonder what the barrel plug is on the FDS adapter? The metal circle is quite thick.

I don't have the original FC adapter, but are you sure it doesn't fit?
My generic for the FC / SFC fit and work without problem (as expected). It does seem a bit loose.

This is how my FDS adapter looks like. The barrel does not fit an FC as it is thicker than the hole.

@133: Do you want to sell or trade that exact PSU? I don't have the foil label type in my collection as yet.

@UglyJoe: You can use a 9VDC or 10VDC adapter quite safely. In fact, the Famicom adapter should work on the FDS, but not the other way around. I have generic adapters that I use, and sell with all systems, and the tip fits both the FC and FDS. The FDS tip is different to prevent the user trying it on a FC, which will draw too much current.
