Do you replace batteries on Famicom games? Especially I wonder about sellers who sell games, such as the final fantasy games. I find it difficult to open the carts without making ugly marks on them...

I don't sell games, but I don't think sellers should replace them. Everybody should know that batteries in those carts are very old. And only a few people know how to open FC carts without damaging them. I should also mention that the batteries are "spot-welded" to a pair of metal pieces that hold the battery in place and provide electrical contact. I don't know if those are sold somewhere already welded together. If not, you will have to provide some kind of holder for the battery. You don't want to try and solder wires directly to the battery due to the heat which can destroy the battery and questionable ability to make a decent solder joint anyway.

You can buy batteries with the solder tabs already attached, making it a fairly simple replacement. Of course, opening a famicom cart is a pain, but it's doable. You just have to be patient.

I figured out how to do that myself last year when I had to replace the battery in Final Fantasy III.  ;D

Thanks for the answers all!...

Still, no seller here who can tell me if they replace the batteries on the games they sell... ?
