Making NES or FC output stereo sound?
Is there anyway to do it? Because it is outputting mono sound even if it sound the same on two channels it will be an improvement for me :D

If you have a toaster NES with the a/v outputs, you can use a cable like this to split the mono audio cable to two audio cables:

He wants to do the wave split, which is a reasonably common modification, which creates simulated 'stereo' sound using the two audio channels from the 2A03. I have schematics for it somewhere.  :bomb:

Yes i want to do the wave split but i am not sure if it can be done on famicom or only nes... for the famicom i think it will depend on the av mod i will do? Or  i will have to use an adapter for the FC like the one UglyJoe posted?

The cable that I posted will just split a single RCA cable into two RCA cables carrying the same signal.  The NES would still be outputting mono audio, it would just allow you to duplicate that mono audio on both the left and right speakers of your TV/stereo.  If you have an AV modded Famicom with two audio ports, then you wouldn't need the cable.  If it has only one audio output like the toaster NES, then you would need the cable.

If you want to do the wave split (that is, if you want true stereo, and not just the same audio coming out of both speakers), then your A/V mod would need to have two audio outputs.

well my NES has two ports one for audio and one for video and yes with this cable i will be able to split the sound but it will sound again mono just from both speakers... and my famicom has not been AV moded because i am afraid that if i do the av mod i will get mono sound....

Unless you go out of your way to build a simulated stereo modification at the same time, then yes, it will indeed be mono.

The 'stereo' mod isn't actually stereo sound; you will also need to add a channel balancing knob, and you will likely need yo adjust it for everu game, as each will have its own range where the split channels sound bettter.

Some may sound horrible nomatter what you do, so it may be prudent to include a bypass circuit, or set it up for dual-mono mixing! :bomb:

So you suggest that I output mono to both channels?
But look at this video . His nes is with a stereo mod... mine nes is not a top loader but i think it can be done? If not then i will be ok with using the cable UglyJoe mentioned.

I didn't suggest much of anything... I did advise that if you build a channel mixing modification that you do so in a way that permits you to use it in dual-mono mode, as some games may sound like rubbish no-matter how you opt to mix the audio. :bomb:

Aye, that also works.  Honestly,it depends on what types of effects you wish to generate. As I use a 1702 monitor with monaural input, I don't bother with this sort of thing for my own hardware. I suppose if I tapped the signals and ran them through my mixer and receiver, then I could play with it a bit, but that is a great deal of work for the few games with extra sound, that are those for which any such a conversion is worthwhile.  :bomb:
