Hi all, I just wanted to throw this out there in case it's not obvious and anybody was wanting to use the headphone feature of the Sansui SSS with an AV Famicom, which doesn't have the single red composite audio jack that the original NES has. All you have to do is plug an RCA coupler (like this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0030F5ND6/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details) onto the red audio lead from the Nintendo AV cord (the one that is standard on the SNES, N64, Gamecube, and AV Famicom), then plug the SSS's audio cable into the other end of the coupler. Presto! It works.

(I haven't received my Famicom yet, but I did test this on a Super 8/Tri-Star, plugged into the SNES audio out for sound and a controller socket on a separate NES for power.)

I actually have a Famicom version of the SSS, which only requires being plugged into the expansion port on a Famicom and doesn't require any other cables.  It's kinda neat... but some games like Gimmick don't pass the extra sound through, which is kind of a bummer.

At any rate, handy tip if someone has the US SSS.

wait, there's a Famicom version? Please post pictures! I was sure it was an NES-only thing!

Interesting. I've got a copy of Gimmick on the way (should be here before my RetroZone repro, ha!), and that's definitely one of the reasons I want to use headphones. ;)

There's was a (crazy over-priced) one over at Japan Game Stock.  They show up on eBay from time to time.  It's a shame that FC controllers tend to sell for way too much on eBay, though.

Undoubtedly the best thing about this controller outside of the headphone port is that the cable for it, unlike the relatively short Honeybee Joycard, is actually the same length as an NES controller cord (finally, I can sit on the couch and play Famicom)!  Needless to say, it's made ol' red pretty much obsolete.  Another great thing about it is that it is thicker than a standard controller, really feels like you're holding something substantial.  I love this controller!

I got mine on Yahoo a few months back in very good condition for a reasonable price.

Opps, forgot to post this earlier.

Here's my review of the NES version of the Joycard Sansui SSS.
